I know quite a few of us ended up cooking dinner yesterday, from the looks of the other thread! I was just wondering how everyone's stuff turned out!
Our turkey was absolutely delish - the moistest (is that a word?!) it's every been. I tried to make stuffing muffins (a la Rachael Ray), but they didn't stick together at all and had to be dumped back into a bowl anyway. It still ended up tasting good, but I think since I used Stove top and there weren't any eggs in it, it didn't have anything to hold it together . No major disasters, so I'll count it as a success.
Other than my family being terrible dinner guests and me developing another throat ulcer, everything was great! Yaaaaaaaay leftovers!!!
And you?

Mine came out really good. I spent a total of 12 hours cooking over tuesday and wednesday nights and thursday morning -- i never expected it to take so much time. the only failure was my popovers with sage butter. it was the first time i've attempted to make popovers, and they didn't exactly pop so well.
the only trouble with the whole meal was that it was really hard to make sure everything was served hot. there were 7 or 8 dishes, and most ended up not quite hot enough when we sat down to eat -- how do you do it without a double oven and/or warming drawer? (i am now def. getting both of these in our next house.)
Mine came out great. I made my first potpie and just put a sheet of puff pastry on top instead of using pie crust. There was left over filling too that i'm gonna put on top of a nice thick slice of homemade bread or on top of mashed potatoes. It was really easy too.
i was just alterted to a silly mistake i made with the turkey. i bought an all natural one from whole foods, and did the normal prep -- rinse, remove giblets and neck. all i found inside for giblets was the neck and some weird small muscley looking thing -- not in a bag or anything. i thought it was a strange since turkeys usually come with the whole bag with various guts in it -- but whatever. brined the turkey, stuffed it, cooked it.
last night as my SO is picking at the leftover carcass, he discovered that there was a small paper bag of giblets still inside. instead of putting it in the main cavity with the neck and that other thing, it was stuffed into the opposite end. so yup, i'm officially one of those people who cooked their turkey with the giblet bag still inside.
mine went exceptionally well. the turkey was so moist, it fell off the bones! we went for a nice nature walk with mulled wine in insulated cups after dinner and came back to sit by the fire and relax. it was honestly the best thanksgiving I've had in years.

It turned out pretty well. All the women in my family came to my parents' house at noon, while the guys went to my uncle's house for football, of course. My mom busted out a bunch of aprons, a lot from the 50s, so we all had fun playing dress up. No one wears aprons anymore! (And she gave me my favorite one to bring home to my apartment, yay!)
It was all delicious, and as the woman officially in charge of the pies, I did not disappoint. We had 5 different kinds, and multiple pumpkin and Derby pies.
The only thing was... the derby pies we ate on Thanksgiving were wonderful and delicious. So the next day, I was invited to my BF's family's home for their leftover party. I brought a derby pie that was extra from Thanksgiving. Except when we cut into it, it was super gooey inside - so much so that I kind of made a comment about how maybe we shouldn't eat it. Everyone did, and said how good it was, but I didn't eat it because it looked too oddly goopy for me. So I don't know if they were all just humouring me or not!
