Christmas gift for SO?
Permalink Closed

Kind of a spin off of manhattanmonkey's post... what's everyone getting for their boyfriend/husband for Christmas?

Buying for guys is soooo hard, and I'm hoping maybe I can get some ideas :)

PS Not sure if this has already been asked, sorry if it has!

probably clothes. He has every gadget and gismo and game he could ever want, and we have a running joke about the inevitability of giving DVDs. And he just started a job that has a more formal dress code than he's had previously, so I think he would actually appreciate and use some nice new clothes.

I was originally planning on either Tivo or a nice pen (Mont Blanc or something), but now I think that he's hoping for some nice new clothes, so I might go that route instead...

I'm getting him a book on the Civil War that I know he wants. I have no clue what else yet though.

I want to get him a shirt or hoodie from threadless.com; I love their designs and they're having a sale too! Woo!

But that's only one thing. And I have no idea what else. And I have an inkling that he's getting me something amazing (well actually a couple amazing things), so I definitely have to think up some more awesome things, but it's hard! Everything I got lately that I planned on saving until christmas, I just couldn't wait and gave them early. Now I'm kicking myself.

I might get him some really nice tea and something tea related (I don't know what, I book? I'm sure a boy wouldn't appreciate a teapot or teacups, though), because he's really starting to like tea. And he loves Japan, maybe I can fuse those into one awesome present?

Anyway, I have no idea and I'm not much help. I was actually thinking of starting a thread like this myself

This year we treated each other to a really nice mattress and sheets...but we're going to be exchanging little things.  I am thinking a really nice dress shirt or cufflinks.  DH wears suits everyday, so he gets a lot of use out of nice work clothing...and he kind of likes saying that I give him things like that :)  But, I think a lot of guys would not like clothing.  One of my friends got her husband surfing lessons...or something that would be fun for the two of you?

I got my bf a tool chest. I'm also going to get him either a down comforter and a decent TC sheet set or a new digicam (Circuit City is having a good deal on the Canon Powershot SD600 on Black Friday, if anyone is interested). Whichever of those I don't get him for Christmas he is getting for his bday in January.

Any combination of or all of the following:

Cell phone (his is five years old!)

Sirius radio (the actual radio is dead)

Ipod nano (so he can stop stealing mine)

I usually throw in a shirt/sweater or baseball cap along with most of his gifts as a little something extra too.

Don't get too excited.  the 4 cds were a total of $13 and the ps2 game was $17.  I just bargin shop real well.   Plus I spoil him some since the last couple of years was his first real christmases - he is the youngest of 7 in an immigrant family so he didn't really have a lot of presents growing up unlike me and my insane family.  It was a lot of fun last year teaching him about what goes into a stocking.

gonna make 2 - 3 big prints of some pics I took between september and now, so that he can put it on the walls (he liked the pics, but has no idea I am enlarging them as a gift for him)

and a sweatshirt with my university logo - which I am pretty sure you can't find in Italy.

That's pretty much it - I feel kinda cheap, but I have to ship this stuff overseas, and I cannot buy anything fragile...

I think that the BF has one of those doohickeys!  Do you know where to get one?  I can ask him if you don't.

The BF is getting a trendy desk for his new condo this year.  The damn man has everything else...
