I am participating in a focus group for green bean casserole. There's no tasting, but it's to discuss why or why not we eat it or make it. I'm trying to think who markets it - is it Campbells or the people who make the onion things that go on top of it? The focus group must be for one of those companies (they don't tell you ahead of time) my guess is that it's Campbells...

it's on monday. should be interesting. the pre-screen was interesting too - asking me if I felt the dish wasn't sophisticated enough to serve, and things like that. plus they'll give me $100 for 2 hours of talking while being watched by Campbell's marketing execs. behind 2 way mirrors. I love doing stuff like this

I just wanted to say that I prefer green bean casserole with english peas. The best ones are by LeSeur's in the can w/ the silver label. It's what we grew up having and how I learned to love english peas. Yum! If it's the onion ring people, they should start marketing english pea casserole instead.

thanks for the article, wicked - it must be Campbell's (plus I've done other Campbell focus group work through these same people)
I had my date wrong too, it's actually the 28th.
ILC - I don't really know how I got on the lists for these. there's 3 companies that contact me for stuff like this - I think it started out by just getting randomly contacted and fitting the profile for the given slot they need to fill for the given focus group. I've done them for Domino's (critiquing multiple versions of a grilled cheese pizza ), Shop Etc. (which has since gone under as we well know - they must not have listened closely enough to my comments - no, actually, some of you commented on how much better the magazine got after their focus groups were held), batteries, flashlights, etc. Sometimes it's just packaging design critiques. I've also had focus groups conducted for automotive accounts I've worked on in the past. I like being on either side of the glass - it's a fun thing (and you get paid!)

is that the same thing as mushy peas? do you have a recipe, or is it simply adding the peas to the existing recipe?

Ha, mushy peas--probably the same thing. Those tiny little round green peas. You just sub peas for the green beans. You pour off the liquid then throw them in the dish with the soup. Ahhh I'm hungry.

LOL! green bean casserole is some nasty crap anyway - I can see why mushroom soup and fried onion related sales are suffering!
actually, I think it's the fact that we sell ad space on the site. a participant's affiliation with advertising is usually a disqualifier. maybe they thought I would gaining inside info that I could use to benefit a competitor... again - whatevah.
I AM going to do one for the shows what not to wear and 10 years younger though on the 11th. that is if they don't disqualify me again...
