He sounds like he's being awful and you shouldn't have to put up with it. At the same time, I don't think he's on a power trip. I think he's feelign frustrated, and he's in that mode where all he wants is someone to do what he asks. He's not looking at the big picture, he's looking for validation in the small things. He feels like he's taking a lot of crap for y'all and the way you've described him, he sounds like someone who's feeling unappreciated. To be honest, I get this way sometimes. When it's like, "I ask for one stupid little thing and maybe it's not totally reasonable but jsut do it for me, ok, just to make my life that much easier. Or at least pretend you WANT to do it."

What I'm saying is, there doesn't need to be a fight here. He just wants to hear, in a graceful way, that you want to do what he asks. That should get him off your back. Good luck!

Thanks for responding Dizzy.  I totally think you're right.  Once I got home and away from the situation I realized that he's under a ton of pressure, super stressed and is frustrated.  I know it's nothing I did and I'm not gonna take it personal or let it get to me

I'm sorry that you feel that way.  It sounds like he is under a lot of stress.  I hope things get better.  I know in my office that people get really tense and overtired right before a filing or a closing, and it's easy to forget that everyone you work with doesn't feel the stress and isn't as invested so you forget to take care of the people around you.  That doesn't excuse the behavior, but is that what's going on?  Whatever it is, I really hope things improve for you soon!
