"WHICH young Hollywood starlet had secret gastric bypass surgery, but then lost too much weight? During a recent four-day stint at a health clinic, she was actually having an operation to remove the bypass."
Could it be:
Either way, it's good to see that she's put on a little weight and I really love her as a brunette. Definite upgrade

If there was a doctor who actually performed that surgery on her, he should seriously have his license revoked. That surgery is for obese people, not people who are already at a healthy weight and want to get freakishly thin.
She definitely wasn't obese before, but she also was definitely overweight, and needed to lose some weight. But, gastric bypass surgery is for people that are severely overweight, and have exercised all options; which was not the case for Nicole Richie. I wonder if it is true, if the surgeon would have performed it on someone that wasn't famous.
Bad call on the doctor's part if this is true.

I think she might have been "overweight" in hollywood standards, but I bet you she was in the healthy weight ranges. She was just normal.
I heard this before, too. If that's true it's just appalling. Both for the surgeon who did the work, and for her, who has all the time and money in the world to actually hire a trainer and a nutritionist and do it the RIGHT way. The thought of undergoing major surgery because you're too lazy to go to a damn gym is just sick.

Ditto.
And I agree Kitty that if a doctor really did perform that operation on her, he/she should have his/her license revoked. She was a little pudgy for a celebrity, but well within means of a normal person, I would think. She certainly wasn't obese.
Plus I find it really odd that someone would undergo this procedure if they didn't need it. The surgery has some pretty inconvenient side effects that last a lifetime, from everything I've ever heard.
Yeah, I guess you're right. I looked at pictures from before, and I guess I was just thinking she was overweight because she is waaaay less skinny than she is now.

Yup! I am guilty of doing the same thing. She looked huge compared to what she looks like now.
I really hope that isn't true. Gastric bypass is really a last ditch option. Someone I know had it done five years ago because she was obese, diabetic, had heart problems, had a hip replaced at 30, and a slew of other obesity-related health problems. She was still really sick after having it (losing too much weight, not being able to get enough nutrients) and recently passed away from complications.

OMG, i'm so sorry about your friend.
if this is true, the dr. who did it is seriously f-ed up.
I would believe if she had this done. I hope there are consequences for the doctor who performed this procedure, if in fact it is true. I am just shocked and sad that she would feel like she had to do this.
