i really really want to see this, but i don't handle people-in-really-awkward-situations well; even meet the parents made me squirm a bit. but jackasses in uncomfortable situations makes me laugh, so... i'm going to stop rambling now.
I went on Fri night, and since I am a giant nerd I didn't know anything about the guy.
Well, I don't like unconfortable sutuations as in meet the parent, which you mentioned (hated the movies), but here they are soooo absurd here that I couldn't help but laugh most of the time. It's definitely the least politically correct thing I have ever heard/seen, but it's soo funny.
I was skeptical going in and I laughed pretty much the entire time. There are some moments that made me squirm, but I was still cracking up. As long as you aren't easily offended, I definitely think you should see it. I thought it was hilarious.
I haven't seen this yet but keep hearing it's hilarious. Sasha Baron Cohen has been all over the place lately so I already feel a little Borat fatigue, but still want to go.
Incidentally, Meet the Parents made me uncomfortable too. That dinner scene where he has to say grace -- shudder.
There were a few scenes in the movie that literally caused me to gag. It was very funny, but also very raunchy. I felt like I needed to shower after watching it. If you are offended by extreme bathroom humor, child pornography (or something close to it), or extended scenes of completely nude men wrestling one another, then i would stay away.
I won't be buying the DVD or watching it again. But again, yes, it's funny.

If you want to feel a little better about the child pornography bit, read my PM. I didn't want to post a spoiler.
I must be the only one in the world who wishes they could get the hour and a half of my life back.
I went for my boyfriend's sake because he wanted to see it and thought I would give it a chance. I HATED it even more after I sat there and wasted my time and actually my boyfriend couldn't realize what all of the fuss was about with the movie and didn't really find it super funny either.

I thought it was easily the funniest movie I've ever seen. I laughed loudly through the entire film. Yeah, some of it is completely wrong, but it was refreshing to laugh at such politically incorrect stuff. I found the political humor much funnier than the gross out stuff.
i love borat. i went to see the movie a month or so ago on special sneak preview. i thought it was hysterical and i laughed the whole time. i can see where it could be offensive, but i think people tiptoe too much these days trying to be pc.
I haven't seen it yet, but I have watched all the Ali G 's on DVD and I laughed at all the Borat episodes. I can't wait to see this movie. I laugh every time I see the previews. I live on an island and it's not yet playing here.
Did anyone see the Madonna video with Ali G? I forget which video he was in. I think maybe 'Music'.
if you like jackass/howard stern/south park/tom green -type humor, then you will like borat.
i love all of the above as well as the ali g show, but borat was not as funny as i thought i would be -- i think because there was more of a fictitous story line, less screwing with real people, than i had expected. but it was funny. and there were actually quite a few politically significant statements made.
I almost snorted my soda during that scene. Sascha Cohen has balls of steel. There is no way I could ever do what he did! I've never seen the Ali G show, but after seeing Borat, I want to rent it on DVD.
