This is really funny. Keep your eyes on Faith Hill off to the right as they announce Carrie Underwood as the winner of the Female Vocalist of the Year:
I totally believe that her reaction was real and no joke. Here is her official statement from her website: www.faithhill.com
"The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimagineable to me. For this to become the focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving Female Vocalist of the Year."

I was thinking the same thing! Seems so out of character for her. However, still pretty funny. On another note, Carrie Underwood seemed so genuinely appreciative to win that award. I'm glad she got it.
Just found this article. She's saying it was a joke and she didn't know she was on camera. Riiiiight. I believe the "I didn't know I was on camera" portion of that statement.
Faith Hill says CMA freakout was a joke 2006/11

NEW YORK - Faith Hill insists she‘s no Kanye West.
"The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable to me," Hill said in a statement. "For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving Female Vocalist of The Year."
Media outlets and blogs zeroed in on Hill‘s reaction after Underwood‘s name was announced at the ceremony. While other nominees — Sara Evans , Gretchen Wilson , Martina McBride — gave the typical gracious loser smile, Hill, who was standing backstage, turned to the camera and shouted "WHAT?"
However, Hill said it was all a joke, and her manager, Gary Borman, echoed that: "I‘ve worked with Faith for many years now and the idea that she would ever insult or undermine another artist, let alone another human being‘s success is absolutely preposterous. Those who know her know that she‘s incapable of such actions," he said in a statement.
Underwood, the 2005 "American Idol" champ, has become a triple platinum success since releasing her debut album late last year. Hill is a longtime darling of country music with crossover pop appeal.
Hahahaha...I don't think there's any way that could be a joke. 1) Her reaction time would have to be REALLY quick to decide to make a joke, and 2) why would she make a joke that wasn't really funny and needed to be explained later? Plus, I find it unlike her to intentionally upstage someone at an awards show by acting like that as a joke.
I don't care if it's a joke or not - it's still pretty funny. Hee. Reminds me of Joey on Friends when he lost at the Soapies. Gracious loser, my ass. Oh well, I guess it's good she apologized.
I believe that this was a joke. She was kinda being cutsy and animated the whole night. Especially for the fact that in some MTV awards, Kanye West just had a fit and walked up on stage after he didnt win video of the year. I totally believe that she thought she was being funny.
What a sore loser. Very rude to dampen the joy of Carrie's win! Before the awards I heard something about how "Hollywood" Faith Hill has become the past couple years losing many of her country fans. Just look at her behaivor before they announce the winner, like she was sure it was going to be her, who else of course! There is no sliding by this one!
Okay I watched that and yeah it was pretty ridiculous, but you can't seriously think Faith Hill was really pissed there.
To me it is so obvious she was just joking, admittedly in a very dorky and impulsive way. I can't believe some of you think that this was for real.
Only a very messed up and reactionary person would respond that way and actually mean it.
If this was a joke it was in the POOREST taste I've ever seen. Poor Carrie Underwood - how should she feel if someone that she admires "jokes" like this about her. It was rude & I think less of her no matter how she meant it.
