I'd like to get a new couch, but the one I have is only four years old, so I feel silly even wanting a new one, and it's not the most important thing for me to spend money on. So, I'm thinking of reupholstering it instead. Has anyone done this? Is it expensive to do professionally, and is it possible to do it yourself?
Well, I cannot imagine reupholstering a couch would be more expensive than buying a new one. All I can say is look in the phonebook and make a few calls to get quotes.
I am planning to have a chair of mine reupholstered. It's very large and sort of an unusual shape, and the unofficial estimate was around $400-$500. I think the chair was originally around $900, if that helps.
