question for Jane Austen fans

I finally read an Austen book! I always struggled to get into her books but I kept coming back and finally something clicked and I plowed through Sense and Sensibility. I am thinking of picking up another while I'm on a roll (though I have a huge stack of new books at home right now). Any suggestions? My dad is a huge Austen fan and told me to read Pride and Prejudice but I saw the latest movie version on a plane recently and I feel like the story would be too fresh in my mind. I don't know much about her other books except I saw the Gwyneth version of Emma and don't know if I would like the book and Mansfield Park has a connection to Metropolitan which is one of my favorite movies.

I'd definitely suggest Pride and Prejudice (it's by far my favorite) but Mr. Knightley in Emma is more and more becoming on of my favorite male characters. Mansfield Park is a little more serious than some of the other novels (written when Austen was older) but I couldn't put it down either. Northanger Abbey is good also but keep in mind that it was supposed to be published when gothic novels were all the rage.

I would also second "Pride and Prejudice" and "Mansfield Park." I haven't read "Persuasion" yet, but one of my friends raves about it.

IMO, Pride and Prejudice is her best (and the book is MUCH different from the Keira Knightley film, IMO), but I also absolutely adore Persuasion.  Much shorter than her other books, very profound, and the most romantic thing she ever wrote.  I adore it and it gives P&P a run for its money as my favorite.

I'm reading Emma right now again.  I love pride and prejudice.  I can't really remember Mansfield Park, Sense an Senseability, or Northangy Abby but I am going to reread them soon too.  I haven't read Persuasion yet so that will be next.
