we moved into a much larger 2BR apartment about a month ago, leaving our old tiny 1BR behind. i've been busy trying to decorate and make the place feel like home, so i wanted to share a few before and after photos of the two rooms that are actually finished...
the kitchen -
before (when we first moved in)
after (with lots of colorful touches)
we are planning to get some new chairs for our little eating nook, but other than that the kitchen is basically done. the curtain is made from half a vintage Vera bedsheet and the tablecloth is a sarong that we bought on our honeymoon in Bali. The "art" is actually 2 vintage Vera napkins framed in t-shirt frames from UO.
my office/studio - where all of the magic happens. :)
before
after (it's soooo nice to have so much space just for my business stuff!)
i painted it a really soft celery green color and added accents in bright colors like turquoise, coral and pink - it's a very inspiring environment. it's not completely done (the other wall is completely empty right now) but it's a really nice space to work in.
so that's just a few shots of how our new apartment has started coming together.

Looks great! Your office looks like it is a nice size and love the paint color. And all of your window treatments are so you. Congrats on the new place and going full time with your business!!!
I love your apartment! And the office is so cool...I work from home and I wish I had such a good work environment. I would love to go to work in there every day!

Oh my goodness! It is so pretty! And I love how beautiful your home office is. It's so clean...it must be easy to work there. I wish I could say the same for mine!
Wow! What a difference! I love the bright colors, it makes the place look so much more fun and home-y. You did a great job! I am sure that you can get LOTS of work done in such an awesome office.
the next project is the bedroom. i actually painted a headboard (using a stencil featured in an issue of Domino a while back), but I missed up the measurement (doh!) and my bed hides most of the headboard when the pillows are on the bed. :( so i'm trying to decide if i should repaint it or paint over it or how i can lower our bed without sacrificing all of the space underneath (which we need for storage) - i'm thinking of getting rid of our box spring. not sure though.
a few shots of the painted headboard with and without the bed in front of it -
*this is before we had any other decor in the bedroom, so it looks so empty!

LOVE the painted headboard. i know it's a bunch of work, but i think i'd repaint the wall, then repaint the headboard. i think it would be worth the trouble. i'm a freak though, i love to paint.
The apartment looks nice. Good job on the headboard! I wanted to try that but I figured it would come out all uneven looking (I'm not the best painter). Would you be able to repaint just the top-half a little higher since the bed will hide the rest? I'm sure you could find a lower platform type bedframe but then you would lose valuable storage space!
Can I just say as a fellow NYC girl I am WAY jealous of that kitchen, it's huge by new york standards.
