My company is having their annual BBQ next weekend. I plan on entering, but I have no idea what to make. So...does anyone have any amazing, bake-off worthy dessert items that I can enter? The prize is a 50 dollar gift card to William Sonoma. I plan on winning that baby!! TIA!
what kind of dessert do you want? pie? cake? cookie? bar?
also what is your skill level? and what do you think will be most important for the judging? are you going for artsy? fancy? home-cooking style? bake-sale style?
i hope this isn't too late but i got this recipe from my sister-in-law and it is AMAZING! i have made it about 7 times since then, and it has been a HUGE hit everytime i make it. it is a little rich...but still very, very good. here's the recipe... Sopapilla Cheesecake 2 8 oz. boxes cream cheese 2 cans crescent rolls 1/2 stick of butter 1 cup of sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp cinnamon
Line 1 can of crescent rolls on bottom of (spray with Pam) 9 x 13 pan. Cream the cream cheese, 1 cup sugar and vanilla together. Spread over rolls in pan. Layer the next can of rolls over the spread. Take butter (melted) and pour over crescent rolls. Mix cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar and sprinkle over butter. Bake 350 degrees, 30-35 minutes.
i'm not sure if this is the kind of thing you're looking for...but hopefully it is:)
I won the bake off!! I ended up getting help from bf's mom. We made a crowned apple cake. It's basically honey-drenched apples with cinnamon. The cake is very similar to a pound cake. Yum!
