Suspect John Mark Karr will not face charges in the murder case of JonBenet Ramsey, two sources have told KUSA, a Denver, Colorado, television station. KUSA, which is a CNN affiliate, also reported the decision against charging the former school teacher came after sources said a sample of Karr's DNA did not match the evidence found at the murder scene in 1996.
I totally knew he wasnt involved, and was a total quack looking for attention.
Here's the full story. I'm not surprised in the least. I knew he was just some freak looking for the publicity and of course the media gave it to him.

BOULDER, Colo. - Prosecutors decided not to charge John Mark Karr in the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey, his lawyers said Monday after a TV station reported that the schoolteacher’s DNA failed to match genetic material on the 6-year-old girl’s body.
“The warrant on Mr. Karr has been dropped by the district attorney,” public defender Seth Temin said outside the jail. “They are not proceeding with the case.”
Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacy’s office did not return repeated calls from The Associated Press.
“We’re deeply distressed by the fact that they took this man and dragged him here from Bangkok, Thailand, with no forensic evidence confirming the allegations against him and no independent factors leading to a presumption that he did anything wrong,” Temin said.
Earlier in the day, Denver’s KUSA, citing two sources close to the investigation, said that hair and saliva taken from Karr in Boulder after his arrival last week were tested over the weekend at the Denver police crime lab and that he was ruled out as the source of the DNA taken from the crime scene.
The schoolteacher’s arrest in Thailand a week and a half ago was seen as a surprise break in the decade-old murder mystery that had cast suspicion over JonBenet’s parents. But inconsistencies in Karr’s account immediately raised suspicions that he might be an obsessed follower of the case who confessed to a crime he didn’t commit.
Among other things, Karr’s relatives insisted that he was with them, celebrating Christmas in Georgia and Alabama, around the time the child beauty queen was found strangled and beaten at her Boulder home on Dec. 26, 1996. They said that if Karr had not been with his family at Christmas, they would have certainly remembered it.
I want to know how he knew so much about that crime scene, stuff that was never released to the public. Things like how the location of the letters in the room, details of her panties, etc. That can't be faked.
I do think he is a nutcase. But I don't think he is totally innocent.
He did research papers in college on the case and interviewed people that were involved in the case--that's how he knew the details.
Anyway, this news isn't terribly surprising to me. I'm not sure if he was just after the publicity though--he seems like he might truly be insane and actually thinks he did it. I dunno. The guy is weird and creepy and I hope they nail him on the child porn charges. I don't think he has any business being around young kids ever again.
just as i suspected...it was stupid to have pursued it so publicly the way they decided to...the DA totally botched the whole thing, and ended up with nothing but a pointless media circus
they should just deliver the guy to the psych hospital where maybe he can get some help

my thoughts exactly. i figured he didn't do it (I'm still thinking it was the parents or someone the parents were in with) but I'm glad he's facing charges in California related to children because he is just scary.
Did you guys read some of the things he said about JonBenet? I realize he didn't do this crime, but he is a sick, sick man: link
I wonder if he really convinced himself that he did it. The Rocky Mountain News had something about that today.
The only thing that worries me is that I read he's currently being held on misdemeanor child pornography charges. (Which begs the question, Why would child porn be a misdemeanor?) But I can't imagine they can keep him for long on a misdemeanor.

exactly. and my first question after hearing this news was, what's going to happen to him? where's he going to go? to live? if i saw this guy walking around my neighborhood i'd be getting the hell out of town. what a scary-ass freak!

He is a sick, sick pervert. I just read that link you provided HB and it's disturbing the things he said about JonBenet. What kind of freak thinks a 5 year old girl was attracted to him and interested in a relationship w/him?
It really worries me that he won't get put away for the child pornography charges. It seems like all too often child molestors and predators don't get the punishment they deserve and are back on the street way too soon.

Well...just this year in Georgia (or maybe it's last year, now I can't remember) did child abuse become a felony. But animal abuse has been a felony for aaaages. Not that I condone animal abuse either, but I mean, come on...
but i still believe the psych ward is the way to go here. whatever crimes he has committed, he obviously has some serious issues.

Some of the laws regarding child/domestic abuse are really ridiculous. In 2005 in NC, it became illegal for a man convicted of rape to have any custody over a child conceived in that rape. Great. I can support that law. But that means that up until 2005, a rapist had all the parental custodial rights that any other parent would have. Boggles my mind.
Sorry about the tangent. Anyway, I hope that this guy is locked up for a long, long time. I hope that the media attention surrounding this guy and this case allows for that to happen.
