So....today I went to the Child Support Agency with my son and submitted the forms to establish a case against my ???estranged husband??? (Question marks cause I hate calling him my husband in any sense...but cursing isn't so great for the forum! )


Initially I thought I was doing the right thing by having child support written into the restraining order...but, since it was not a separate order it was not enforceable....so basically, if he wanted to he could pay it, but if he didn't I was out of luck.


It's now been almost 2 years since he supported his son financially in any way.  So I've had it.


Special thanks to KayKay for reminding me that he is just as responsible as I am for the welfare of our child!

Good for you!  I hope he finally takes some responsibility (even if it's forced upon him).  Will he have to pay back child support as well?  My friend's mom sued her dad after 20+ years!  Better late than never!

yeah, obviously I know nothing about this, but he should ABSOLUTELY give his share of the past two years' worth...absolutely. And always going forward.

I don't know anything about this either, but your estranged husband sounds like a real big a-hole! Good for you for filing charges! What kind of jerk doesn't want to help support his child? One of my aunts had to sue her ex husband to get him to help pay for their son's college education, and this was the only child the guy ever had. It's never too late to make him take responsibility!

and I agree, he sounds like a jerk (to put it mildly). You on the other hand are a GREAT Mom- your son is so lucky that he has someone as great as you.

Now it's just a matter of waiting till they can serve him and schedule a hearing.

How can someone be so heartless as to not want to see or support their child? You are so lucky to be rid of this dude. I hope that he is ordered to pay you an amount that will allow you to support your son comfortably. You guys deserve it!
