Seriously. As if she didn't learn from the first time around, the woman is at it again! This time it's with a co-worker's brother. He's apparently all about meeting me, but I am, of course, forever the skeptic. And considering my recent track record with dating (and set ups and all that hogwash), rightly so.

But, this guy seems normal enough from what I've seen and heard. And he's pretty cute!Heaven knows I need something to distract me from the ridiculous co-worker situation. But then again, if all goes to hell in a handbasket, at least I'll have some more fodder for my obnoxious myspace blogs. What doesn't kill me, gives me more writing material.

Yup. You should go. At best, he will be the guy of your dreams. At worst, and if your mother's pickings are anything like my mother's, it will make for a hilarious story in the "you'll laugh about it later" type of way.

Just thought I'd let you know that as we speak, my mother is currently on classmates.com looking up guys from my graduating year for me to date. Isn't that special?

HAHAHA!! I'm sure that if my mom knew about classmates.com, she'd be doing the same thing. She just tries to hook me up with her co-workers' relatives. Apparently, if any of them have a guy relative who's single and around my age, they all think we should date.

Mothers know best!! Lol... NOT!

Well ... I'm 29 and my mom still thinks I shouldn't have a boyfriend. I think she wants me to became a nun and stay indoors the rest of my life, away from boys!

Right...Because when you're single, the only requirement you have of a guy is that he be single and within 20 years of your age.

Can I talk about my mother for a moment also? She isn't trying to set me up with anyone- god forbid she ever gets that idea - but she has her own special way of humiliating me. So we were in Ikea on Saturday looking for some tables for her living room. Anyway, long story short, Ikea has all their new 2007 stuff in so we ended up walking around and looking at all the new rooms. In the the middle of the children's room section, she starts wailing, very loudly, "I want a grandchild!!! I don't have a grandchild to decorate a room for!!! I want you to have a baby!!"

People were staring. I was totally embarrassed. Gosh, aren't mother's special?

Yep. That's THE only requirement. Nothing else matters. Single and close in age, with a heartbeat. Because obviously all single people that are close in age are compatible and have similar interests. Especially, those of us in our late twenties who are fielding the, 'why aren't married yet' questions. ARGH! I. Hate. Dating.

Metric, I'm peeing myself at your mother's statement!!! HAHAHA! That is so hilarious. Embarassing, but hilarious just the same.

wahahahaha... tell your brother to get a move on! Maybe then she'd leave you alone?

When I was single my mother came up with a few gems. Some of them were that I should see a therapist because I wasn't over my ex (of multiple years back - not to mention the fact that he's now a woman - not that she knows that) and that it was fine with her if I brought a woman home for them to meet (great mom but if the hours of drooling over kirk cameron and brad pitt - different stages of life of course - didn't let you know, i'm not gay).

Ugh, mothers!

Metric - however did you manage? I would have lost it right then and there. My brother has 4 kids and as far as I'm concerned that means I'm off the hook permanently.

Oh and Maat? If my mom looked on classmates.com, I'd kill her. Not even kidding. I'd have to find a place to stash the body. Of course I went to school with people who were missing teeth and thing cow tipping is an excellent date, so I might be a little less disposed to the idea.

Kenzie - didn't you like the guy your mother set you up with last time? At least this one won't be scooting off to school.

Nooooooooo! The one my mom set me up with was the crazy, let's get married guy (I'm sure you've read the How to Lose a Girl in 10 Dates or less blog on myspace). Yeah, that's 99% based on him and it's not even an exaggeration. This guy was  loon! And the best part is, his own mother knows it! She works with my mom (of course) and has said that he scares off every girl he dates because he acts desperate. You know it's bad if your own mother is saying that! EEEEEEEK!

As for the guy who was in school-- I call that one my Quarter Life Crisis fling and I found that one on my own. I still talk to him once in a while, but obviously, the fling has flung.

Oooohhhhh, that's right. I remember now. Why would your mother set you up with someone who she knows is desperate? That will never work. Unless she thinks you're desperate, too, I guess. Ouch. That sounds like my mom!

In her defense, she didn't actually know that he was until after I encountered him. And his mom just recently said this about him to my mom when they were talking at work. So, it's not like she knew ahead of time. My mom knows that I'm ridiculously independent (and about as far from desperate as it gets) and she would never intentionally put me in the situation that I was in.

As for the new guy, I stressed to her that I don't want some psycho trying to get me into a relationship. Honestly, I'm just bored and want to meet people in this area, guys and girls. And I want a guy friend that I can drag along when my friends decide that it's 'couples' night so I'm not sitting there like the odd wheel out (D works a side job and isn't around that much). But I really don't want to deal with anything else when it comes to a relationship. Ideally, I need a Will to my Grace. I used to have that and it was the best!!! No drama, just a good friend and tons of fun.
