Ok, I know Express has that weird policy where you can only return X amount of items in like a 90 day period or something. I recently bought a TON of stuff from there, and ended up returning about 1/3 of it. I wanted to buy some stuff from there today, but I was scared I was over my limit for returns and I'd get stuck with anything I purchased...

sooo...

I ask the sales lady what the return policy is. She says, "Oh, I don't know..they don't tell us that." I said, "What do you mean they don't tell you that? Isn't it your RETURN POLICY? Isn't that kind of important to know?" She says, "Yeah, I agree, but they don't tell us..I think it's no more than $500 in returns or something." So, I ask if there's someone else there that knows the return policy and she says no...there's not. So I said, "Well, I bet you if I was here trying to return something and I was over the limit of returns you'd be telling me the return policy as you rejected my returns." She then said there was some number I could call if I wanted to know what their policy is. How ridiculous is that?

WTF is up with that store!? I ended up buying the belts I wanted but I said, "IF I need to return this I plan to refernce this store and your name and say that I specifically asked you what the return policy is and you said you didn't know."

Idiots.

I have asked them about the return-limit thing and the SA's at my Express pretended to know nothing about it. Yeah, right. That place is sketchy, but I do love their pants.

I'd call customer service and complain about the incident.  That's bullsh*t that she didn't know the return policy and that no one in the store knows it either.  Any manager or asst. manager should know what the return policy is and if she couldn't get off her lazy ass to find one of them, then that's a problem.

I like some of their editor pants but that store always pisses me off every time I go in there.  The sales people are not helpful at all and the dressing rooms are always disgusting.  I try not to ever step out of my shoes when I'm in their dressing rooms because there is so much hair and stuff on the floor.

I refuse to even go in that store anymore.  I just got so sick and tired of snotty salespeople....they either hang on you trying to cram more things into your arms or they ignore you completely and let you wait at the register for ever. Grrrrr!

I just check out Marshalls and TJ Maxx from time to time to see if they have any express pants.

I worked at express the majority of last year, and for a while (1-2 months) we had some booklets detailing the exact store return policy agreement with www.returnexchange.com (the company which handles these returns).   I used to staple them to everyone's receipt.  The details of that policy were sort of complicated and with certain stipulations, so I doubt any employee or even manager memorized it.  I used to know it and now I can't even remember it anymore!

I guess the bottom line is that all returns should be made within 60 days, and they reserve the right to refuse a return.  That is what is stated on the back of the receipt.  Legally they are covered.  They are not bound to disclose the specific details of their return policy.  However they did specify the details for a while by giving out those booklets because so many people had questions when this was first implemented.  I would still suggest you visit returnexchange.com or call their 800 number to get further details.  I think that is what the SA at your store should have told you, but she didn't convey that very well it seems like.

I still remember working there when they had NO return policy...people used to return all sorts of things, sweaters that were about 10 years old and smelled like smoke, things covered with cat hair, etc.

I guess they went from one extreme to the next!
