iMBA- anyone?

The University of Chicago GSB has a weekend MBA that is great for people that travel for work. You attend class on Saturdays in DT Chicago. The great thing about the program is that you get the EXACT same education that the full time Chicago GSB students get, but you can get it while you work.

I am just about to submit my app for the Evening MBA program there and I have done a ridiculous amount of work and research on the GSB. If you are interested in more info just let me know. I am happy to help.

explain to me a little bit more Farrah- is Chicago's program one that you spend all saturday in classes?

i guess i was hoping for something more online/mobile since i have a lot of time to kill in hotel rooms and it would be nice to do so by getting my MBA. i would hate to give up my only time at home (saturdays) by spending them in class.

p.s. its nice to see you back on the boards!

and honey i checked out the link you provided on businessweek and i searched iMBA. looks like Syracuse is the only college that provides this type of program i really hate to put all my eggs in one basket.

In Michigan try: Cleary University or Wayne State University for online programs and Michigan State University has a weekend MBA, so they might have added an online one by now.

Thanks for the welcome back!! To be honest the reason that I haven't been around is because I have been eating, sleeping and breathing the MBA application process (GMAT included) for the past 6 months. (I'm so happy that it is almost over.)

The Weekend Program at the GSB would put you in one class in the am and one in the afternoon. While that thought may not seem ideal right now the thing that really gets me excited about the MBA programs at the CHicago GSB is that they are TOTALLY flexible. e.g. I get admitted to the part time evening program, but one quarter I think that I would rather take a Saturday am class and a weekday evening class rather than 2 during the week in the evening. I can do that. Say that I have flex schedule at work and I get Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons off: I can take classes in the daytime with the full time students. (My fave example) Say that I get laid off or just decide to quit my job and go full time...I can do that too and they do not give you one bit of trouble about it. Once you are in, you are in. All students at the GSB are equal no matter what program you are in.

I am also super psyched that I will have a chance to take classes with Nobel Laureate profs and possibly get to take a class taught by the notorious, genius economist Steve Leavitt (Freakonomics anyone?).

For me the MBA is about the education in class, learning not only from the profs, but from the brilliant people sitting all around me. I also plan to use my MBA as a major tool to market myself to top companies in the future.
