What's a typical raise in your company (assuming you haven't been promoted or had job duties/job titles change)?
I'm feeling so frustrated because my last two raises have been 3-4%, which is just pathetic. It seems like the cost of living is going up faster than my salary is increasing and so by staying at this job I'm really only moving backwards.
I think an average cost of living raise would be about 3-5% if your responsibilities don't change and you're not getting a promotion. If your responsibilities or job title have changed, then a larger raise should be expected.
i got a 20% raise after four months. i can expect raises every 6 months or so of that size for the next couple of years until i get a promotion to a lead/supervisor. at that point, it'll probably get to be more like 3-4% a year.
HA! We are **supposed** to get a 2% raise per year plus a flat rate based on experience (around $300-1,000). However, the state I live in does not like to fund education, and this year they decided to increase our retirement contributions, so I am actually going to be making about 2% LESS this year. Fab-u-lous.

My situation is a little different because I'm my bosse's assistant, so he can pretty much give me whatever I want - I've gotten anywhere from 5-15% raises. I get them once a year. Last year I did so much extra work he gave me a raise and a bonus. But they're always once a year.
My raises have ranged from 5-8 percent when I didn't receive a promotion. When I have received a promotion, my raises have ranged from 10-18 percent (the one time I got a 18% raise it included a market adjustment raise).
Our cost of living raises can vary from 2%-10%. So it's not just a straight across the board raise. Merit goes in to it as well. Merit raises (or promotions) are a higher %. My last one was over 15%.

My company always sets a range for annual, non-promotion raises. I think it might be a maximum of 4% for nonexempt employees and 5% for exempt. But my boss has always given me bigger raises because she said she wants to stay competitive and at least match what people in the same positions at other places are making. So I've usually gotten 6-8% and this past year I got 11%! Can you try to find surveys or job listings that show what other people in your position are making? That's what I did when I was getting promoted and it really paid off because every year since then my boss has been keeping those figures in mind.
