I've had a Netflix account for over a year. I used to return my DVDs in the mail, and I'd have the replacement the next day, it was awesome. Now, it's taking over a week to get my replacement..sometimes longer. I'm so frustrated by this. Has anyone else noticed the slow down? I'm tempted to complain.
They do that with older members. If you "rent" a higher than average amount each month, your movies take longer and there is lower priority for you to receive new releases when they first come out. Basically it doesn't pay for them to get you your movies. If someone only rents 6 a month, Netflix is making money off of them. If you rent 13 a month, they aren't making money.
That's part of the reason why there was a class action law suit against Netflix.

I am a very high renter (4-5 movies a week on a 3 at a time plan) and I haven't seen any huge delays in my shipping. Sometimes it will take me a week or two to get a new release if I don't time my return just right but its never a problem otherwise. I'd call and complain about the service. I know maat did a few months back and they upgraded her for a month or two for free.
Kitty - yes they have slowed down big time for me!! I'm so frustrated. They actually started slowing down my rentals after about the 1st month. When I first started it was so fast and felt so satisfied and excited about it. Then I heard about their tricky ways in how they do their shipping. I have complained and nothing has been done about it. I think I might cancel and complain again.
Kitty, are you getting the confirmation emails the next day saying that they've received your DVD and are shipping the next one? If not, I'm thinking that the reason is because you might be renting movies that are highly demanded. But if you're getting the emails that say it was shipped, then something is wrong with the shipping that they're using.
I've been a subscriber for a few months now and I've never had a problem. That's discouraging to hear that your shipping is slowing down. I'd give them a call to complain and see what they can do about it. Part of the reason Netflix is so great is because of the turnaround time, so when they're lagging, it sucks!

I send in the DVD and it takes them like 4 days to say they've received it. The thing is, the shipping center/headquarters is located in Los Gatos, CA and I live SUPER close to that, so I'm having a hard time believing that it's taking 4 days for the post office to get them the DVD. I have a feeling they're just not marking it as check in right away. I've also tried mailing from different mail boxes and postal codes.
Then, they usually say its shipping the day after they receive it. In the beginning, it would usually ship the same day. So, all in all its taking me over a week to get a DVD after I return one. I seriously used to return a DVD in the mail and have another one the next day or the day after that. Because of this delay, sometimes I've gone a week without any movies to watch - which really sucks because I use netflix instead of cable.
The first year or so I had netflix I was really happy, but I think i've been put on some sort of shitlist since I was ordering tons and tons of videos.

Hmmm, that's weird. Netflix receives mine faster than that. Usually if I put it in the mail Mon I get confirmation Tues and they mail out the new one Weds.
I thought I heard that mail from the San Carlos post office has to go up to the one at SFO, and then goes out to the destination form there. Maybe it's a similar thing where you live? Also, do you mail it through a mail box, or through an actual post office? I bring mine to work and the mail carrier picks it up when she delivers the mail to me.
