I am a little discouraged with the fall styles. Alot of them not really flattering for my body type. Skinny jeans on big hips... not a good idea. I will be looking for more of a staright leg, in my trousers and jeans-this may work. Leggings hmmm... in the magazines they show either long and lean coverings, or long and bulky layers that just dont look good unless you have the figure for it. I remember one time my husband and I were in Walmart and there were several heavy set women with stirrup pants and long tunic type tops on- He said "Why would anyone wear those tight pants, and those huge tops- it only makes you look fat".Hmmm... I think I will buy some leggings and try them with a denim skirt, platforms, and a blousier top- we will see. I am loving the platform shoes, patent leather, large frame type bags, the accessories are really great this season. I will be focusing alot on buying nicier accessories. What are your thoughts, what do you plan to add to your fall wardrobe?
How are you guys feeling about ponchos? A classic if you find the right style? I just found a beautiful black cable knit poncho with a drappy turtleneck (not drappy enough to be a cowel). I can't wait to wear it.
This fall I am looking forward to buttery leather jackets, thin knit dresses and tights, chunky knits with chiffon, and a more neutral palette...fall is all about rich texture for me, but in flattering silhouettes
I got a buttery leather jacket this summer for the fall and I'm really looking forward to wearing that and also knit dresses and wedges. I seriously need to find some comfy wedges I can walk around campus in!
I'm definintly not going to be looking at the new trends. I have come to figure out that I get the most use out of blousy tops paired with a cardigan or jacket with jeans or trousers.
I adore the fall trends...but I'd need to lose about 50 lbs, get back into a business job, and learn to drive before wearing anything. Oh and there's always the whole I need to move toa colder climate...
This is the first time that I have felt really left out and sad because 75% of the fashions aren't ever going to work in my lifestyle and/or on my body. It's the first time I'm just totally uninterested in what's new clothing-wise, at least as far as purchasing anything for myself.
Skinny anything is out of the question. I hate being left out of this trend, because I've wanted skinnies for almost two years now and would totally rock them like a French girl in total bliss. I trust you girls and even y'all said straight leg looks bad on me. I do apprecaite the honestly immensely, but I feel like the fat kid on the playground and I'm a size 6!
I guess I am looking forward to trotting out my boots and all, but not much else.
What Lilykind said. I have been looking forward to Fall and getting back to fashion after giving birth (still waiting for that one...) - but the Fall 06 styles are not going to work for my figure or style. Leggings and skinny jeans are out of the question, along with all the rest of the 80's comebacks (I always thought the 80s styles iffy and haven't seen a reason to change my mind). I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with my existing fall wardrobe, and purchasing some more vintage stuff.
as far as new looks i'm very into all the sweaters i'm seeing lately. not that sweaters are that new of an idea, but i've noticed that sweater dresses are coming back and i like those.
i'm also happy that the high rise/wide leg pant trend is starting to trickle down to a more affordable price point. i've seen some cute styles at h&m and jc penney.
other than that there are certain trends that i hope will die (like leggings/footless tights) but i don't think i'll get my wish.
I really like the skinny jeans tucked into boots look. That said, in order to pull it off, I feel like I'd need to grow about 6 inches and be unhealthily skinny. Like weigh less than 100 lbs skinny. Who are skinny jeans marketed for? I see the ads saying that anyone can pull them off and that is just not true. I'm 5"4, thin, and they look dreadful on me because I have hips that are larger than my waist. Hopefully I won't look too dated in my bootcut jeans.
I absolutely love boots, and am planning on getting some new skirts and dresses so I can show them off!
I'm also looking forward to dresses and chunky knits.

Well, if it means anything, Lucky's August issue showed nice large flares as well as skinnies. I think that if something is truly flattering (like boot cuts) it will always be a classic.

I could TOTALLY see you in some dark skinny's w/ a slight crop and your Chanel flats!

Well...they don't fit up my calves or they get stuck to them.
The day that J Brand made their 12'' cigarette skinny whtever jean available...my legs started to dream of withering away.

I agree 100%!! I will never look good in anything but bootcut jeans. All the other kinds do NOTHING for my small waist and big hips. Don't worry, I agree they are classic. And, I can't wait to pair them with wedge boots!!!! I am so in love with wedges this summer that I can't wait to buy a pair of wedge boots. I already have my eyes on these:
I'm excited about layering and wearing sweaters, but I'm not really excited about any trends that look like they're going to pop up. This summer wasn't that exciting for me, and it looks like fall won't be, either. I've been gravitating more and more towards classic pieces because I don't like the silhouettes that trendy pieces have been creating lately. Mostly I'm excited about unpacking all my pretty clothes from last year that I've had to neglect for the past few months

i am pretty excited about fall because i love 80s style. i actually just got rid of my fave pair of skinny jeans, though, because they aren't as flattering as they used to be. i think a slightly less skinny, straighter cut can give a similar look but still be flattering.
i am really excited to wear my new boots and sweaters! i am also going to try to make this the fall of pants.
I am excited about the tunic-y sweaters like the Free People one that was posted. And slouchy boots, I know they're a repeat of last year but I really like them. Oh, and I like leggings paired with dresses/skirts.
i'm excited for comfy sweaters more than anything- cardigans, tunics, etc. But I also have some thermals that I want to start wearing under things. And my winter coats. Basically anything warm and snuggly- thats why i cant stand winter dresses and skirts! i never wear them. at least i'm realistic =/
