i'm having a shower & e-party in SC and the wedding in PA.

i know some people in SC aren't going to be able to go to PA for the wedding, and that's the main reason i'm having the e-party.  all shower guests are supposed to be invited to the wedding, so that's fine;  but, does everyone who is invited to the eparty have to get invtied to the wedding (even though i know they aren't coming)?

emily post doesn't acknowledge this one !

YES!  Everyone who is invited to any pre-wedding event must also be invited to the wedding itself, regardless of whether or not they will be able to make it.  People might just suprise you!  We didn't have an engagement party, but did invite a TON of people who live far away.  We didn't expect any of them to come, but they're family so we thought they'd be hurt if they didn't get an invite at all.

Low and behold, a bunch of them are making the trip out and with only 9 weeks notice at that.  We invited more people than we could afford to pay for because all those out of town people where on the list, but in the end just over half are actually going to be attending - we invited 200 and our list stands now at 105, though we'll probably hit 110 or 115 before all is said and done.  When we were making the list, I just marked all those 'courtesy invite' people under 'probably won't show', and we subtracted them from our estimated attendance since they skewed the numbers quite a bit.

Point being, sending an invite to these people is a gesture of inclusion.  That way it's their decision whether or not they can attend - if you don't send an invite at all, you're making that choice for them.  Plus, some of those people are bound to send gifts (that sounds terrible, but it's true!).

Not necessarily.  Everyone from the e-party needs to be invited to the wedding, but everyone from the wedding doesn't need to be invited to the e-party unless you want them to be.
