I have a relatively miniscule handbag collection (well, in relation to my shoe collection, at least LOL) and so far they have just been stored in a plastic bin with a locking lid. But I have started to buy more bags this year, and am running out of room in the bin.
I don't want everything to be all smashed together, but I don't have a lot of other storage space. Our closets are used up with other things and there is no additional storage space in my main closet in the master...I am lucky to get my shoes in there. ~sigh~ It's a really small closet, plus I am, of course, sharing with DH (who gets 1.5 bars to hang his clothes, and I get 3.5, plus shoes). As it should be. ~snicker~
How do you all store your bags? I need a better solution. I'd love to do an accessory wall like Smash's, but DH would, understandably, have a fit. It's enough that he tolerates my tons of jewelry boxes and all the other accessories I love. :)

What is this accessory wall that you speak of? Are there pictures? I've considered doing something like this b/c my bedroom has a boutique theme (sort of).
Other than that, I'm not much help. I have a huge walk-in closet all to myself and I store my bags on shelves.
ETA: I found the pictures of the accessory wall on my own. Fun!
He's not our dog - a puppy that friends bought when we were in AZ back in Feb. I just got tired of the old, avatar (angry-looking girl).
Yeah - I guess I'll check out the container store in two weeks, after we are back from our vacation. I need to do something...because I don't plan to stop buying purses anytime soon. :)

this system works AMAZING for me. i would definitely head to the container store. that place is trouble for me. i want to be super-organized woman when i walk in there.
i have three of these on the floor of my closet. they look really big, but they're not. they still allow dresses and pants to hang freely above them.
two are for shoes. the bottom drawer of both of mine is a bit larger to hold knee high boots (and there no small top drawer). the other drawers hold close toed shoes, dressy sandals, casual sandals, and sneakers and clogs. the drawers are really big and hold about 20 pairs of shoes each (not the sneakers or boots drawer since those shoes are bulkier).
the third one looks exactly like the one pictured and holds my purses. i use three of the drawers for larger purses, and the top for clutches/small bags. it works out great for me. i have most of the dust bags that came with my handbags, but i did have to buy a couple of these
