So based on all the raves of fellow STers and on MUA, I've decided I'm getting a Chi straightening iron. I'm just not sure which one to get. My hair is fine–>average thickness, but I have a ton of it. It's kinda dry lately because of getting highlights, and it likes to be frizzy/poufy if I don't blow-dry it carefully. And it's semi-long -- it's about 4" past my shoulders.
I'm looking for advice -- do you think I should I buy a 1" or 2" one? Any recommendations for specific models? What specific kind do you have, and are you glad you chose the one you did? Also, any tips on good places to buy it from?
I don't know about any of the specific models because when I got my chi there was just one but I highly recommend the 1" variety as opposed to the 2" one. I tried to use a friend's 2"er on vacation and I could not get it close to my head or my bangs or any of those things I usually use it for. The smaller one is much more accessible.

My thoughts exactly, the 1" is just must more user friendly

I have the 1" model too, and I love it. It works really well. In fact, I took it to Scotland, and when I tried to use it (in conjunction with a currency converter thing) it didn't work, I actually thought I had ruined it cause it got super hot. But I've tried it since I got back to the States, and it still works! Anyways, I don't know what that had to do with the post. But yes, the 1" works great.

i agree with the others- the 1" flat irons are easier to use. i have had a CHI, Cricket, Wigo and T3 and all have been 1" models.
as for models- i think the original CHI is still satisfactory. they have the CHI nano now- which is basically to wipe out germs and the CHI turbo as well- but personally- i would go with the original CHI.

until i bought the T3- i thought a flat iron was a flat iron was a flat iron. but all that jazz about the tourmalines really does make a difference. plus, T3 makes a wet or dry iron that completely sold me when i got to use it at a show... it was amazing!
don't get me wrong- a CHI is still a great iron. i just think they got surpassed when the T3 company beat them at introducing the tourmaline heating.
I just bought the Chi original about two weeks ago and love it...i got the 1 inch and would definitely recommend that ... as to where to buy it, I got mine from my hair stylist and got it at wholesale price...so I would look into something like that
