Ok, I thought this would be dumb fun, but I really liked it and thought it was a thoughtful take on the conflicts between men and women. Well,at least it was thoughtful in between the gay jokes and sight gags. I liked that no one was right, and I really liked the ending (no one else did). But I won't give it away. Anyone else seen it yet? It was funny, I went with my ex, and both of us completely saw ourselves. Actually, he freaked out a little bit... "I'm Vince Vaughn and I really do want a relationship, it's just that I want to be the guy who has a ton of girls, too..." Yeah buddy, good luck with that...

I loved it. Dh and I went last weekend to see it and both thought it was hysterical. Was actually surprised at how funny it was.

I wanted to go and see it but it was all sold out. I am going to go try again though.

I saw it over the weekend too and I was surprised that it really did have a little more depth than Vince Vaughn's more recent comedies.  I liked that you would be laughing at their bickering one moment and then struck with silence the next.

I have to review this for my film class and all I'm going to talk about is how much I HATE the ending. The rest of the film was great though, it hit home with all the midwest living and Polish jokes.

SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILER alert!

I know the end felt weird with the film, because the film set it up as a formula where they get back together in the end. But I really liked that she didn't go back to him. My interpretation was that she realized while waiting at the concert that he was willing to let her hurt and be embarrassed in order to win, that she had played that game too (I'll stay away until he CHANGES). And that she wanted someone who would give more, that she couldn't change him to be that person. And that she grew up enough to see that he wasn't a bad person for being who he was. If they HAD gotten back together, it would have been because she changed him. And that wasn't the point anymore. She couldn't trust him and she walked. And he finally broke out of his pattern, but one big gesture and a "wow from now on things will be different" isn't enough of a reason for him to suddenly trust him. Like she said, she'd been asking for the same things since the start of the relationship. And his lame response was, "well you never asked like that..." which doesn't make him a bad guy, just not on the same page.

So it wasn't the hollywood ending, but it was finally one that I really think should have happened, given the characters and their interactions.

Ok, it's possible I read WAYYYY too much into this film. It really got me for some reason. Especially the part where she was waiting at the concert.

I liked it. I guess I was expecting more of a straight-out comedy, though. It had more serious/realistic tones to it than the previews made it out to be.

You know they filmed a different ending because a test audience hated the original ending.  The second test audience also hated the second ending but they stuck with it.

I did enjoy the film and surprisingly hubby liked it too! He usually sleeps through every movie, but not this one; we both really like Vince Vaughn.

!!!!SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT!!!!

I liked the ending in that they stayed broken up, that was very realistic.  However, I think they should have ended it a lot sooner.  I don't see the point in them meeting up several months later.  Why not just have it end when they move out and be done with it?  That would have left us all wanting more and wondering how it all worked out, then we could use our imaginations to have the ending we individually prefer instead of them dragging it out.

I loved it! I had to drag my boyfriend out to see it but he thought it was really funny (God bless Vince Vaughn) and a smart portrayal of real relationships.

I thought the ending was great-- for once, not a Hollywood ending! And I actually liked that they showed them meeting up at the end (even though the movie as a whole was a touch too long). I loved that they were both okay with each other and what had happened and both seemed happy and well-adjusted. It was very refreshing.

*SPOILER*

I liked the ending, and since it shows them running into each other later and so happy to see each other, it leaves the future of things up to your imagination.

That's exactly how I read into the ending, which is why I LOVED IT! :) Plus, her wardrobe was fabulous!

Spoiler: See, the ending is a Hollywood ending though-It is called the break up after all. Aside from that, breaking up minutes into the movie leaves the audience wondering why these two were ever together (the credit montage does nothing to help this). And Vince's fast talking skits worked in wedding crashers but not so much in this. Also, the whole romantic comedy and drama mix confused me-should I be laughing or upset right now? Also, what does Brooke want? She wants him, then she doesn't, then she does....

Okay, that was my film critic voice.  In real terms, I love romantic comedies and I did like this movie for a what it is.

I just saw the movie yesterday afternoon and I really liked it. My friend and I both felt we could identify with the characters and the situations, at least to some degree.

And I really liked the ending. I liked that they didn't get back together and more importantly, I liked how they both seemed happy without each other. I guess that's why sometimes a break-up is the happy ending we're looking for. I also liked how they'd kept up with each other, even though they weren't still together.

I wonder what the alternate ending was? Do you think it will be on DVD?

I loved it - Jen and Vince were hilarious and really good on-screen together.  She looks gorgeous btw, loved every outfit she wore.  The one thing I didn't really like was the end.  Call me a sap, but I wanted that Hollywood ending.  I know not everything in life works out where people get back together, and I understand why she had nothing left and didn't go back to him, but I was sad walking out of the movie - I like happy endings and the end was just so sad for me.
