Does anyone else live near a Crossroads? I'm wondering if the one near me is just especially shitty, or if this is how they all are.
I go today and find this really cute cropped BCBG sweater. It was priced at $35 which already seems pretty damn pricey for a used piece of clothing. THEN I notice it has a small hole in the arm. I point this out to the sales lady and she says she can give me 15% off. WTF? That's less than $5 off. So, basically, they want to charge $30 for a BCBG sweater with a HOLE.
I also found TONS of forever21 shirts, Old navy blazers, target stuff..priced outrageously. By the time something from FOrever21 has made it to a recycled clothes shop you know it's probably on its last leg. I saw a Charlotte Rousse blazer that looked pretty beaten up for $20.
I find that most consignment places are this way. To me, if the prices in the consignment store are the same as what I could find the piece for new on sale, it's priced too high! I much prefer thrift stores for this reason - they do require a bit more digging, but I like knowing that I can buy whatever I want from there and not break the bank!

I went into a consignment shop near my house and they had an American Eagle top for $15. I remember seeing it on sale for $20 when it was in the mall. I would expect bigger savings on used clothes, but I think since thrift shopping is popular now the store owners mark things up more.
I love my Crossroads and buy there a lot. Sometimes the prices are ridiculous and I just pass. But usually I get great deals there and at the other consignment store I like, Buffalo Exchange. The other day I was at Crossroads and got a tailored jacket for 16$, and a Kors top for 15$.
