Oh my God, I don't know where to begin! This was such a good finale.
Demond is definitely an Odysseus figure -- his girlfriend Penelope, the sailing, the way she's waiting for him and fending off other suitors. So is she behind the whole thing? She said when you have that much money that you can find anyone.
The guy in the hatch with Demond is the same military guy who made Sayid torture someone during the Gulf War.
When Jack and everyone were in the jungle and heard the whispering again, I distinctly heard "Elizabeth," and with that being the name of the boat, that can't be a coincidence.
I wonder why Charlie didn't tell anyone that Locke and Eko were still down there?
I haven't really watched the show this season cause all the weird mysteries were starting to get on my nerves [ducks tomatoes], but I tuned in for the finale and it was really good! I just have to say--wtf was with that Zeke dude's beard? Why was it fake? And I wonder if Walt and Michael will just sail away and we never see them again...
No tomatoes from me -- my BF always makes fun of me for watching this, although tonight he said he'd try watching season 1 from the beginning to see if he might like it.
When Kate, Libby, and Claire went off in search of the medical hatch where Claire had been held captive, Kate found a locker with a fake beard and theatrical glue in it, as well as "costumes" of their clothing (I think). So she knew the beard was fake and that the Others had some weird pretend thing going on.
I read rumors that Michael is not going to be a series regular next season, so it looks like we'll see a lot less of him.
I'm still so confused! What happened to Locke and Eko??? What happened to Sayid, Sun, and Jin? What are the Others going to do with Kate, Jack, and Sawyer? And why did they let Hurley go without shooting him with the stuff? And what was the stuff they shot them all with? And what is Desmond's girlfriend's role in this whole thing???
I love how they answer a major question, like why the plane crashed, and then they just ask about 15 more.
I read this morning at Entertainment Weekly's site (www.ew.com) that Penny Widmore's dad has ties to the Hanso Foundation. I wondered about this last night but didn't see anything to prove it, but if that is the case, then maybe she has insider information about where Demond ended up.
I've watched Lost off and on this season. all the twists were starting to get on my nerves. can we just answer some questions please!!! but last nights episode was really good. it is weird how everyone on the island is connected in some strange way. . .but i still feel like they could answer a lot more questions then they do. i mean jeesh drag it ouuuuuuut already.
complete aside but when jack, sawer, and sayeed were taking off their shirts and swiming for that boat and climbing on that boat gosh that was HOT. they just needed to add the hot asian husband swiming for my romantic fantasys to come true. ok kinda tmi but still whoohoo nice looking guys. go lost way to have gratuitous hot half naked men.
Speaking of hot, Desmond is my new boyfriend. I used to think Sawyer was smokin' but lately he just annoys me and all he does is scowl. Desmond is beautiful! Plus I luuuuurve his accent. I hope we see him in every episode next season.

I really hope Locke's not dead! He needs to get his faith back next season.
We know the island is real now because the Russian (??) guys detected the electromagnetic signal. So they're not in hell/purgatory (I know the writers denied this theory already, but I don't trust them at all! ) or in an institution somewhere having a collective hallucination as part of some kind of weird group therapy.
Was I the only one who expected Walt to do something creepy when Michael got on the boat with him?
So what's the deal with the four-toed statue? The first thing I thought of was the Collosus of Rhodes, but that doesn't explain why there are only four toes. Another forum posted a theory that the statue was of a human who had been evolved by some kind of Hanso Foundation fast-evolution project. The person who posted the theory posted a link to a scientific article that said people's fifth toes are pretty much vestigal at this point, and that eventually people might not have them.
Henry is so creepy! He knew what was up with the weird white sky, and it looked like he wanted it to happen.
Penny Widmore is the daughter of the main Widmore guy who supposedly funds Hanso. Remember Widmore Laboratories of the pregnancy test and Widmore construction? Plus the book Bad Twin talks about the Widmores more in-depth (I have it but I haven't gotten that far yet).

Oh.My.God. That was a kick ass finale, imo. The electromagnetics causing the plane crash, Henry as Zeke's boss (although we know that Zeke's real name is Tom), Libby gave the boat to Desmond, Penelope is looking for Desmond...Oh and I got all excited when Dickens' Our Mutual Friend popped up, since I read the book in college and it ties in to the whole theme of death and renewal, and Libby is "a mutual friend" of the Losties and Desmond, and the book begins with a body being found in a river, which was a lot like how Kelvin found Desmond. I can't wait to see what happens next season!

Oh, awesome! I'm so glad you posted this -- it clears up the whole connection.
Anyone else think it was funny how Papa Widmore was the guy who played Caleb on The O.C., and the Elizabeth said it was from Newport on the back?
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Libby say her husband's name was Tom? Then we learned that's Zeke's real name is Tom...do we think this is just a coincidence or could this be yet another connection?

Isn't he dead? He and Ecko and Locke all died, right?

I think Desmond probably is--which is sad, cause I totally agree with atlgirl about his accent--I could listen to him read the phone book--but I can't imagine they'd kill off Locke, and probably not Eko either, at least not yet. Though obviously with this show, I could be totally wrong.
I really don't think Locke is dead. We're still missing parts of his backstory, like how he ended up in the wheelchair (or did they explain that?) and how he ended up at the box company. We also don't know what "bad" thing he did.
I love the Classical references, i.e. Pen/Penelope and the Colossus-looking statue. I bet there are more Odyssey-like clues in there, too.
Did anyone else keep waiting for Sayyid to show up and save the day when they were on the dock?
Also, can anyone shed some light on why the monster stuff was so prevalent in season 1 and almost missing in season 2? Were they just tricks played by the Others to scare the Losties?
