LA girls- need rest. suggestions

My hubby and I will be going to LA for the weekend and on Sat. night we want to indulge in a nice dinner, at a very chic, trendy, but not pretentious restaurant.

Does such a restaurant exist in LA?

Any suggestions please?  I was reading up on Koi.....has anybody been there?  Would you recommend it?

Koi is delicious, but its definitely a scene. Good star-spotting, etc., but could definitely be called pretentious. It's extremely "LA".

Other ideas:

Table 8 - american
Blowfish - very trendy, fun sushi
AOC - tapas
Ago - italian
The Lodge - amazing steakhouse
Geisha House - pan-Asian

let me know where you end up going!

I'm going to C&O Trattoria on Sunday night.  I wouldn't recommend it for your Saturday night dinner, but definitely go if you have time!  It's in Marina Del Rey, great atmosphere, great food, and one place that I never miss when I go to LA.  C&O Trattoria and Diddy Riese are my two must-dos every time.

I second Koi - it's totally LA (whether or not you like that concept :)

Or, Ortolan on third is totally chic, incredibly good french food - in a very glam setting.

You also might want to try campanile - amazing food  and beautiful restaurant - heavy industry crowd, but older.

On the west side, Valentino - amazing Italian, Whist at the Viceroy - a definite scene, with a cool bar.

The Lodge is good - and trendy, but it's not super summery.  Since you'll be here soon - I would recommend places with a good patio.

Have fun!
