pear shapes......have you found bermudas that flatter?

I really like the way bermuda shorts look, but i have honestly been too afraid to try on (since last summer) for fear of dissapointment due to thigh-age(there are certain pairs that I can just LOOK at and tell that they are cut too slim).......what have you found that works?

I am thinking I may try these- not quite bermudas, but not longish capris either (which i hate)

I am secretly hoping i can pull these off, perhaps if i size up

thoughts? is it even possible to wear a cropped pant/bermuda and not look even wider on the bottom?

I'm curvy and I wear them..but I'm not really trying to hide my curves, either.

I think as long as they're not too tight you should be fine. Also, darker color is probably a better choice to help balance out.

I'm curvy on bottom and I would like bermudas if I was 2 inches taller. I found ones that had a wider leg opening more flattering.

I have actually found 2 pair that are quite flattering.  I find that if I make sure they're not too tight and that they hit below the knee they can be really cute!

I have both of these:

ON - $25 - I sized up to get a slouchy look

Juniors' Mossimo® Red: Stretch Canvas Bermuda Shorts - DirtTarget - $15 - I sized up in these too, and they hit below my knee.  Fitted but not too much, and they didn't gap in the waist.

I try to avoid anything that *clings* to my thigh area - ITA, there are some pairs you can just look at, and know they won't work for you!

I think slouchy = flattering. The straight-cut cotton ones just don't work for me. I found a cute slouchy pair in Nordstrom's BP like these

I bought express gauchos just like the pair you posted (love them!) and chocolate brown Express city shorts.

Also, I think it helps to wear them with some sort of heel. I bought some comfy 2-inch chunky heeled sandals to wear with mine, because I look dumpy when I wear shorts + flats.

I am a curvy gal and the bermuda style of shorts are the only ones that I feel comfortable enough to wear. I found three pair at American Eagle that I think are great. But, they are fitting, and not loose around the legs- but, somehow they work for me and have gotten many compliments on them- especially when dress them up and wear a wedge or low heel.

Have you tried NY & Co? I personally haven't even tried them on because I figured they wouldn't be flattering. But this weekend my curvy cousin had on a pair she got from NY & Co & they looked adorable on her. I always have luck with their pants / capris because they tend to be fuller in the thigh areas so I'm going to try them myself.

I can't find them online, but there were some at Old Navy. I've been searching for a while, and normally can't get the size that fits my waist over my legs...but there was a pair that is cuffed comes in khaki, black, navy, and white and features a removable belt that I loved so much I bought two pairs. Sorry I can't find a picture... and pictures I have of me wearing them don't show from my knees down...so not so flaterring...

I always thought they looked the best on curvy people. I have a very straight shape and i think they look horrible on me.

I agree that they look better longer and slouchier.  I have a pair that were supposedly to be uniform shorts, but they were 2 sizes too big.  I wasn't ever going to wear them, but I ended up wearing them for a mission trip, since we had to dress modestly.  They were surprisingly flattering, so this year, I might browse the boys section for some shorts...  It's worth a try.
