We've all been there girl! Look at the bright side-at least you aren't pregnant. I've been in 3 weddings while pregnant and let me tell you-it wasn't pretty! And it wasn't fun paying for extra fabric and alterations either!

It needs major alterations. For some reason it's like 3 sizes too big even though I ordered a size smaller than what they recommended. I can't even take three steps without the entire dress falling down around my hips.
It's also about 5 inches too long even when I'm wearing 4 inch heels. I'm 5'7 so I have no idea who in the world is tall enough for this dress.
It doesn't look that bad from the hanging perspective...

I swear bridesmaid shops have a completely different size chart then everywhere else. They told me I needed size 16 based on my measurements when I fit perfectly into a size 8 of the same dress....
Thank you!! I think they just make you order something huge so you end up having to pay them for alterations..I'm convinced this is a scam.
They told me I needed a size 16 too..which is absolutely ABSURD because I'm generally a size 10. They had a size 8 sample dress in the store and I tried it on and it almost fit..so, I was perplexed when they recommended a size 16. I got a 14..and now that's insanely huge. I probably needed a 10. It's a racket.
I don't think it looks that bad, and I'm almost jealous because it's an excuse to wear something that's pretty, but you won't ever wear again because it will look out of place in the real world.
Plus, if it fits well everywhere else, you could have it shortened to your knees or something for a cocktail dress! it looks plain enough to do that

That's more than the cost of the dress.
WHAT? That's outrageous! I would be sooo mad
Can you get it altered at a tailor or somewhere else other than the bridal shop? Can you put up a big stink about how they recommended this size to you in the first place?

I knew the bridal shop would try to rip me off, so I took it to a local alterations place..they quoted me around $200. I thought they were also trying to rip me off, so I took it two more places who quoted me roughly the same. WTF?! I guess it's because the dress is three layers....? I honestly don't know anything about sewing, so I'm at a loss. I guess the dress can't simply be hemmed do those silk stripe things at the bottom, and therefor it has to be taken-up from the waist.
I found someone on craigslist who I am *hoping* can do it cheaper.
