I know it's been done a million times, but I need "where to" advice for taking the entire fam plus my parents in NYC.  I believe we're going to leave on Sunday afternoon and come back Monday evening.  We'll be driving (@ 4 hours).  My parents are kind of low-bred hicks, to be honest.  As much as I'd like to spend the entire time shopping and going thru the street vendors, they and the kids would probably make my life miserable.  I'm sure I'll be allowed to stop at least somewhere for a while, but I think everyone will mostly just want to see the major sites.  Any recs for areas easily accessible on foot?


How about Chinatown?  Go or bypass?
