does anyone take loestrin 24? i've only ever been on ortho-tricyclen, but it's been making me super emotional lately and my gynocologist suggested switching to a monophasic pill to keep my hormones in check.
loestrin is 24 days of pills instead of the usual 21- then there are 4 iron pills instead of the normal 7 sugar pills. i think it's relatively new- she gave me a sample to try. has anybody had any experience with this pill? also, do you know if they make a generic version? (it would cost half of the brand name with my insurance.)
I have never tried loestrin-24, but I switched from ortho-tri-cycelen for similar reasons to ortho-cyclen, which is monophasic. I never had any problems with it and there are generics available for it too.
I've been on the regular loestrin for years. LOVE it. I have 7 iron pills - no sugar. Apparently the Loestrin FE 1/28 (which is what i take) is the lowest does estrogen out there and is a really old pill - from way back in the day. If you are really emotional - you should talk to your doctor. you might have serious pms (i can't remember the medical term) and they can give you something to balance you out. It happened to me - I have no PMS at all now.
I took it for a while. I took the generic, which my pharmacy offered me. It made me sick, but then everything does. The only pill I can take is Alesse ... so maybe if Loestrin doesn't work you can try Alesse?

It groups different hormonal methods together that have similar makeups. If you've had good luck with one pill in a group, chances are you'd be okay on others in the same group. Likewise, if you've had trouble with a pill in a certain group, it's more likely you'd also have trouble with others in the same group.
Poptart - I was on Alesse too, and it and Seasonale are the only pills that don't give me any nausea AT ALL. Notice they are also from the same group. Maybe another in the group would work for you too, if you ever need to switch. The fact that the Mirena is in that group also gives me high hopes!
