Off the beaten path restaurants : Hawaii

I'm looking restaurants in Oahu or Maui that are off the beaten path and have a good scene... something similar to nobu in miami (if anyone's been) ... kind of hidden, oceanfront....

Karina, do you want location, cuisine or a combo of both?  I'd hit up Hoku's @ the Kahala Hotel & Resort (or whatever the hotel's new name is) for great food with an oceanfront view.  It's on Oahu about 3-5 miles away from Waikiki.  They'll be closed for renovations from May 1st for about 6-8 weeks, so contact them (808.739.8888) & make reservations in advance b/c it's tough to get a good reservation time.

In Maui, you have to go to Napili Bay.  There's a little restaurant that has the most insane view, but I can't recall the name of it for the life of me.  I'd consider it more of a food restaurant rather than one noted for cuisine.  Also check out the Four Seasons Hotel for a great view since they're situated oceanfront.  Kerry Simon's supposed to be opening a restaurant in Wailea this Spring @ either the Kea Lani Resort or the Renaissance Hotel, but I can't remember which.  Check out his website for more info.

If I can think of any others, I'll LYK.

Good luck.
