saturday night i went to a cousins

birthday party and saw family i haven't seen in a couple of months. well a few of my cousins gave me compliments that night on my weight, they were tripping out that i lost so much weight. so of course they made my night :)

well my husband and i were getting ready to leave later that night and right before were leaving my cousin S came to us and asked my husband why did he gain weight. my husband is heavy, whatever. she told him that he needs to lose weight cause his wife is "starting to look good and skinny and that he needs to lose wieght too." my husband just told her that he hasn't gained wieght, hes going to the gym and trying. then she tells him " now all you need to do is get your wife some implants and she'll look  better." i then told her " no  thank you, im fine. my husband married me this way so hes fine and im okay with myself." she then said "believe me, you want them. once you get them you'll regret not having them sooner."

ugh, i hate having one "of those" people in the family! btw, S does have implants, and all our lives shes always comparing me to her, i dont know why. shes had two kids, so have i. everytime she got pregnant she Blew up and she has to work really hard to lose weight. right now she looks great, shes really lost a lot of weight, so i guess she feels that now she can talk and tell people their issues.

thanks for listening, had to vent......

Grrr...what nerve! I hate how people think they can say anything because they're your family!

Holy crap!  I can't believe she said all that!  I would have been tempted to smack her!  She was first of all very out of line for bringing up your hubby's weight and then again very out of line for suggesting you get implants.  If she brings it up again, I'd say something along the lines of "I don't want them and I'm not getting them.  End of story.  Can we drop it now?"  Ugh!  What nerve!

wow - she sounds incredibly tactless. It's perfectly ok to mock people like this to their faces. They don't know, and it will make you feel better - "How kind of you to mention it - I know you only hae the BEST intentions. You're so sweet, looking out for our marriage like that. My, and if I ever get a boob job you'll be the first to know..."

Inappropriate family members seem to be an epidemic recently. It's so ridculous what people think they can say.

That is the rudest thing I have ever heard. You should have said " no sorry don't need them my husband thinks I'm sexy enough without them. I'm so sorry your husband obviously had an issue with yours." rude maybe but whatever she started it.

What a b!    Next time she says stupid stuff, just say in a very insulted voice, "Excuse me?" or even better,  very sweetly and inquisitive, "Now why would you think it would be appropriate to say something like that?"  Put her in her place.

See, I'm with Collette on that you should say something completely inappropriate back to her if she ever says anything about it again. Like "yeah, I think fake boobs are tacky" or something like that (I don't think that, if anyone has them, but HELLO) there is just no way that it's ok for her to say something like that.

And the whole husband thing.....whatever bitch!!!!!!!!!!

I feel for ya- I just wish I knew what to say. She is totally inappropriate & you are right to feel the way you do....

{{{{hugs}}}}}

i would have said, "yeah, you know, i've been entertaining the idea, but i've never seen any that look anything but tacky in real life, so i think i'm going to pass."  or you can say, "yeah, you know, i'd rather have saggy real boobs when i'm 70, than saggy fake boobs when i'm 70.  saggy fake boobs makes me throw up in my mouth a bit".

and STARE at her fake boobs when you say that!

needless to say, i would have said something soooo snarky because honestly, she said two things that were hurtful, so you're not really stooping to her level because she's got one more on you.

hindsight is 20/20, but still, what she said was so inappropriate.  i'm sorry, nobody deserves that.

The fact that she has struggled with her weight in the past... DOES NOT give her permission to criticize others.

She is clearly just picking others apart to make herself feel better. "These" people don't get any more obvious than her!

What an icky thing to say, SO rude and by the way....she's wrong.  Nothing against those who choose to get implants, two of my very best friends have them (and they looked better in natural form IMO), but nobody has any business claiming that another person "needs" them.  And forget about what "my husband" thinks is fine, it's all about whether YOU think fakies look better than your own and whether or not YOU would really want to put some foreign objects inside your chest to attempt to look womanly.

What to say to her?  I would probably be a real B considering how I have a pretty strong opinion about a lot of cosmetic surgery, so I don't have advice.  Just don't let her think for a minute that you admire her for her decision, because apparently it would make her feel like an expert on the subject.

ETA:  Oh, and how terrible that some women feel like it's okay to talk to a man like the way she ridiculed your husband about his weight.  Maybe he has a tough skin, but it's no excuse for that behavior.  I doubt she would consider talking to the bigger wife of a skinny guy the same way!  What is wrong with people?

Heehee - true!

I would have point blank told her that I didn't need plastic surgery to feel better about myself but if she does, that's her own insecurities she has to deal with. I would have walked out/away and let her stew in her own judgmental juices. Loser. (This is something my mother would say to me only it would include liposuction and I would in turn give her lip about her own penchant for plastic surgery.)

thanks so much girls.

i dont think anyone in the family has ever responded back to her with a bitchy comment, ever. i told one of my close cousins what happend and she said that S used to tell her weight comments before too. i've witnessed S saying some dumb comments to others in the family and noone ever puts her in her place.

so i'll try and be ready if she ever trys to put me down again. She rarely picks on me so i was caught off guard.

thanks again.......
