I need your help. I have my "girl" room in my house that needs some serious help. This is my retreat that i can do whatever i want with. It is a very small room at 6'x12'. It gets tons of sunlight because it has 7 windows. It does not need any blinds since the room sits up high and no one can see into it. In fact i removed the blinds and it made the space look larger. The color on the walls is a lemony-lime color. I want to keep this. I am looking for an accent color for the windows but nothing too dark.
I have included pictures a couple of accent pcs that i currently have that i would like to keep. These include the double hinged metal screen and my corner accordian cabinet that has all of my pretty little things on.
I want to go with a indian/asian theme. Of course the pc that inspired me to redecorate (a small tray that sits on my vanity), i forgot to take a picture of. I will do this tonight and post that picture. The tray has this lemon-lime color, jade green, gold, black and a hint of strawberry red.
I'm thinking of getting rid of the vanity (mirror is rippled and cracked so i dont use it) and maybe splurging on the lucite vanity (see pc). The wall where the vanity sits is recessed a little. My thoughts are to hang a pair of jade color curtains on that wall (see inspirational curtain pict below) or maybe paint the wall a jade colored wash.
If i got rid of the vanity, i could hang a couple of shelves and or pictures for some of the items that currently sit on the vanity. Another ideas is to take the screen which is painted gold and put a sheer fabric back to it and put it behind the lucity vanity and then maybe back light it with some floor can lights.
For lighting, i have a pole lamp behind the chaise and maybe hang so kind of retro looking chandelier from the ceiling.
As for my chaise, i cannot afford at this time to have it reupholstered so i'm looking for a light weight quilt/sham duo that i can wrap around the curtain.
Lastly, i have some great artwork that i want to keep but i'm wondering if i need to have it on a centralized wall. Maybe the wall that the screen curtainly leans on. I juts out a little so this might be an option.
Oh, I included a pc of this antique mirror that i have which if i painted the wood around it might work. I'm thinking it might look good next to the closet door.
Any thoughts would be welcomed.

a) your room is awesome. I love the idea of a retreat, and the paint color is great.
b) I am not nuts about the lucite vanity. To me, it just doesn't jibe with the other things in the room, but of course I may not be picturing it the right way. I'd prefer your old vanity, maybe painted a whitish or cream color and sanded in sort of a shabby chic way.
c) I love the curtain idea. I think you should definitely do it.
d) I know you didn't ask about this, but a corner window seat would be really cool in the area you have the chaise now. They're pretty easy and cheap to build.
e) I like your pictures, but I think they need to be grouped or moved lower or something. Right now they seem like they're floating on those tall walls. (May just be the angle, though.)

I agree w/ halleybird about everything. I think the lucite vanity wouldn't quite jibe with the ambiance you've created in the room.
I like the curtain idea too and I really like the idea of painting the vanity. I think a white/cream color would look nice, but I also think maybe red could look cool too. It would definitely bring out some of the red accents and I think it could look cool with the green.
I also think if it's possible to take off the drawer handles on the vanity and replace them with drawer pulls that were smaller and had an asian vibe, it would update the vanity a lot. Here are some drawer pulls I have in mind:
I've also seen some cool bamboo-looking drawer pulls that could go well with the asian feel.
Also, it looks like you have few different types of metal finishes going on. I see some brass and some brushed nickel, I think. I think it helps make a room feel more unified when everything is in the same finish. You can pick up a can of spray paint and paint some of the metal pieces to help acheive a more cohesive look, if you want.
I also think maybe a large rug would tie everything together and make the room look more grounded. A sisal rug or another neutral type rug would look really nice.
I think you're definitely on the right track. I think tying everything together with some coordinated candles and other accessories will finish it all up nicely.
Hope this helps! Sorry it got long--I love playing house!
I appreciate your input. You have great ideas. I'm going to start working on the room in about a month (have to finish other home projects first) and i'll post picts as things progress.
Halleybird, i like the window seat idea but i'm going to have to keep the chaise in there since i do not have room for it anywhere else.
