i need to go to the gyno - i haven't been in about a year and a half and i've run out of my prescription for BC, which i need to control my INSANE cramps, etc. otherwise i'm crippled for about two days, unable to do anything.
also (sorry tmi) i think i might have a bacterial infection or something - i've had them before, usually just takes a prescription, but again, must go to doctor. my regular doc is in VA, and my parents have paid for her when i've gone here - i can't afford a regular doctor so decided to go to planned parenthood. i'm worried about the cost but figured i'd just skip the student loan payment this month (my health is more important) i'm STILL super worried about money - just found out that the oil pan in my car has to be replaced (stupid old BMWS - have to take the whole engine out to get to it, so $$$)
anyway i just told my dad about it and he said he would try and help me - i mentioned going to the doctor and i *think* he said "i'll pay for that too" but i could barely hear him (money is tight for my parents right now as well) but if he paid for the PP visit it would help me TREMENDOUSLY. problem is - my family is VERY anti planned parenthood b/c they are catholic - i'm not gonig to get an abortion (obviously) but i think just the fact that i'm giving them business would really upset my parents. he had to hang up and said he would call back but i called PP to see if they could take a credit card over the phone - no go. (he's in VA so i can't bring his card in)
if i send him a bill it WILL say planned parenthood on it - should i just do it and risk the wrath, or hope that he doesn't ask to see the bill?
or should i cancel the appt and wait to go to a regular doc if he is going to pay for it?
i've got about 30-40 minutes to decide, my appt is in less than two hours ...
I'm not sure how it works at Planned Parenthood in your state, but if you don't have insurance and have limitied funds, PP should cost little to nothing. They'll give you a form to fill out when you go in, asking about your insurance (if you have it, put that you don't), and might have a section for whether you can afford it or not. If not, ask the receptionist/nurse. If your state doesn't fund a health card for PP, they'll at least let you pay on a sliding scale. Hopefully you won't even have to ask your parents to pay for the visit.
no, i already checked it out - although this is the cheapest option (i'm assuming because there's no real doctor there - they told me they don't have any) the lowest price on any servce is about $10 less than the regular price. i had thought what you said, but it's just not the case. it's going to be $60 (minimum) for my exam plus extra for the tests to find out what my infection is, and then more for my prescriptions.
yeah, planned parenthood has you fill out a form with questions about your income and insurance (if you have it) and then they decide what you pay based on that. it should be fairly inexpensive.
can you just pay for the planned parenthood and then ask your parents to just reimburse you? maybe after you go, just tell your parents that they made you pay the day of your apt. and wouldn't send a bill, so you just paid for it.
i think it's probably pretty important that you get to the doctor sooner rather than waiting to go home. if you have an infection, you should get that taken care of right away, no question. with the BC pills, i know when i used to take them, if i went off and on it would really mess up my body, so if i were you i'd try to get a script asap.
blehhh, that sucks about your car ... i hate having to spend money on stuff like that.

You need to go to the doctor, you don't have very much money, so PP is your best option, right? I would go and worry with my parents later. You NEED to go to the doctor.
Maybe you can have the bill sent to you house and tell your parents how much it is? If it requires a cc, can't you get the number over the phone (when the bill comes) and fill it in?
Hmm, that sucks. Is there any way that you can pay for the exam/BC and then just tell your dad how much going to the doctor cost (not telling him it was PP)? Then he could hopefully just reimburse you? Or maybe PP would accept that you pay in installments?
I had to get some tests done awhile back and had VERY limited insurance. It ended up costing me loads out of pocket. When the bill came in the mail, I just paid would I could each month and they would send me a bill every month. The bill showed that I had to pay the whole thing, but I never did. I didn't even discuss it with them first, I just did it, which is probably bad. I think as long as you pay a bit each month that would be fine.

It wasn't planned parenthood, it was just a regular doctor, but I would think that PP would be more understanding than a regular doctor when it comes to payment. Let us know what happens.
