type of home style/architecture? I am not up on what the different styles are called. however, i think I am very eclectic. I mix and match a lot.
color to decorate with? i am looking around...i think i have to say black. it sounds dreary, but it is a great accent color.
type of flooring? wood
paint color? i still live in a rent house and can't paint...but i would love a dark navy room or walls
wood color? anything dark - mahogony, walnut, black
type of kitchen countertop? i like the big rough ceramic tile
hardware color of choice? anything but brass
least favorite thing to decorate around? television, electronics (too small a space for a big amiore or something to hide it)
furniture piece in your house? my favorite is my grandmothers dining table and buffet...but since we are renting the world's smallest house...my mom currently has custody of them
My apartment is snorey-boring post collegiate right now...*sigh*
type of home style/architecture? I like Victorian homes with large porches (east coast) and California beach bungalows from the early 1900s (west coast)...however I would never decorate according to the architecture...no Victorian in a Victorian home.
color to decorate with? my favorite colors to wear are the same colors I'd love to put in my home...warm pinks, earthy greens, deep rich reds, and plums. I like the idea of accenting with blacks mixed with deep woods.
type of flooring? HARDWOOD!!!!!! It rankles deeply in my soul that I have apartment-issue being carpreting. Ideally, I'd like a paler birch or maple colored hardwood floor, but I'll take anything that isn't too ridiculously dark.
paint color? I like warm sagey/mossy greens
wood color? for the floors, super pale birch or maple. for the furniture, I love dark brown stained walnut.
type of kitchen countertop? never gave much thought to this, but I do like granite
hardware color of choice? brushed nickel or stuff like this.
least favorite thing to decorate around? I hate all electronics, but I hate televisions the most.
furniture piece in your house? I'm not into most of them, but I do like my dining room set. It is an outdoor set that I'm using in a very indoor place, though.
I bought it from Ballard Designs three years ago. It's this set in black but I bought the larger table and a set of four chairs.
I still live with my parents and haven't been able to decorate my own place yet, but interior design is my passion so I'll play
Your favorite:
type of home style/architecture? I like a nice balance of traditional and contemporary. I love clean lines, but I don't like anything too cold.
color to decorate with? It sounds so boring, but it's white. It's so clean and bright, and I think it can really pull a lot of things together -- although too much white can be steril and boring.
type of flooring? hardwood
paint color? I used to think that bright, bold colors were the way to go (every wall in my parents' house except my living room and bedroom are beige, so I think that was just a little rebellion ) but I've learned that, for me, neutrals are probably the way to go... a nice soft, warm gray can be really pretty and goes with lots of different accent colors. I change my mind a lot with which colors I like to decorate with so it would be perfect.
wood color? nothing darker than maple for wood floors; mahogany for furniture or cabinets
type of kitchen countertop? concrete or marble
hardware color of choice? brushed nickel
least favorite thing to decorate around? I agree with the rest of the bunch: electronics.
furniture piece in your house? The couch that's in the living room in my basement (my living space)... it's the kind that reclines on either end, and the middle section folds down or a table with cup holders and a phone in it. It's this awful shade of slate blue... it's horrible. My parents bought it for my grandparents with they moved into their last apartment, and they absolutely loved it. When they passed away, we got it back. How can I not love something that they loved so much?
type of home style/architecture? I'd like to live in an old (maybe Victorian) house and decorate it by mixing shabby old pieces with sleek modern ones.
color to decorate with? white, brown, green, just a hint of pink
type of flooring? wood
paint color? We live in a rental apartment so everything's white but I'd like to try pearlgrey and light olive
wood color? anything but pine, I saw too much of it back home
type of kitchen countertop? good old stainless steel, easy to clean and looks great
hardware color of choice? silver, but I also love brass in old houses
least favorite thing to decorate around? cords
furniture piece in your house? an old rustic table and two chairs, originally from my great grandparents' house
type of home style/architecture? English Tudor, but I love Arts and Crafts as well
color to decorate with? anything, I guess... My house is predominantly a mix of camel and burgundy with dark turquoise and black accents. my kitchen is terracotta and cream with turquoise and black accents.
type of flooring? wood, slate, but I love terrazzo flooring and would like to have it one day.
paint color? I prefer deep rich colors with crisp white trim.
wood color? dark
type of kitchen countertop? corian because it doesn't stain, and it can be easily modified needed. I am also intrigued by pigmented concrete.
hardware color of choice? bronze, copper although my current hardware is mostly antiqued dull/dark brass.
least favorite thing to decorate around? Electronics
furniture piece in your house? it's between my mammoth mahogany 4 poster bed with a half tester, or the wing back chair in my living room. I have to tell a story about the wing back chair...
One weekend, my husband was running some errands and took a way home that he normally wouldn't take. He saw an estate sale sign, took note, came home and told me about it and we decided to go check it out (this was in a city adjacent to ours.) We went through the sale, didn't really see anything, and went to go check out what was in the garage. In the garage was this wingback chair with cream textured upholstery that looked like a dog got mad and shredded it to pieces. The chair had good bones though - I lifted the cushion and the label read Hickory Chair which is pretty good quality. After much dickering, I talked the lady down from the $150 she wanted to $40, as it would cost a fair amount to purchase fabric and have it reupholstered. We left with the chair, and as my husband was trying to load it into the car, he started reciting our home address, like 3 times... I'm like, "what are you saying our address for?!?" and he said right here - on the bottom of the chair - it's our address.
This chair had been ordered by the first owner of our house, and the shipping label was still attached to the bottom of the chair. I supposed it wanted to come home! What are the chances of that? Anyway - it was pretty freaky. But pretty cool too. It's since been upholstered in a tone on tone burgundy stripe with antiqued brass nail head studs

type of home style/architecture? I'm always torn between victorian house with a wrap around porch or a 50's/60's Case Study style home
color to decorate with? Green
type of flooring? wood
paint color? off white but I'm really into wallpaper right now
wood color? favorite is bittersweet chocolate, but a lot of my 60's pieces are a mid brown walnut
type of kitchen countertop? Nothing really rows my boat
hardware color of choice? silver/nickel
least favorite thing to decorate around? computers
furniture piece in your house? That is tough, probably my 1960's walnut credenza. It has open air shelves on the side, shelves in the middle with doors, and a pull out bar. The bottom has sliding doors with tons of space to store stuff. I also have this darling 30's mirrored front side table that I coo over often. I got it for $8 at a peddler's market and it was probably one of my best buys ever.
type of home style/architecture? Traditional brownstone or Victorian, I live in a brownstone, it's a really old house
color to decorate with? Blue
type of flooring? wood and flagstone
paint color? ecru and various shades of blues; light to deep w/ wainscoting
wood color? cherry wood
type of kitchen countertop? marble
hardware color of choice? I have vintage Delft knobs
least favorite thing to decorate around? Electronics that can't be hidden away
furniture piece in your house? my great grandmother's dining room set including 12 seats and table w/ 2 leaves, a server an banquet in a luscious dark wood
okay..most of these answers are pretend cause im still a rentor.
type of home style/architecture? really really clean and modern lines. but id love to have all minamalist modern stuff inside an old farmhouse (old houses are really the only way to get a good porch, which imo is key to a good house). no extra stuff laying around, no pillows or mirrors or even furniture that's not used all the time. id love to live in an old convered warehouse/barn/church/any other space type place as well.
color to decorate with? blue, green, red, purple...really any color that's not a neutral.
type of flooring? i really do prefer wood (dark or light), but i think it would be great to have a stone floor too (sorta concrete color) but no tile.
paint color? see above, really any color but cream, eggshell, white. i want lots of color to go with my clean lined furniture.
wood color? really depends on the space. i think lighter for kitchens, but darker for office spaces. i really sorta like the idea of all pale pale bleached wood through out the whole house with dark navy and burgundy walls.
type of kitchen countertop? i haven't really thought much about this other than no vinyl or plastic stuff. probably concrete/limestone type but unchippable and unstainable.
hardware color of choice? brushed nickle. ya know, the sorta matte silver shade.
least favorite thing to decorate around? hmm, probably any truly necessary item that's not terribly attractive. entertainment systems, computer, kitchen accesories.
furniture piece in your house? probably my bright red kitchen table and chairs, and i mean, bright bright red! and i really adore my coffee table. its technically too high to make a good coffee table but my mom's brother made it and i never got to meet him as he passed away before i was born. hmm, considering that i don't really own much true furniture other than those two pieces its a good thing i like them.
