*UPDATE*Ebay Email Etiquette

I've been stalking some Michael Kors pumps on Ebay for a while.  Well just when I decide to stop for a week, my size comes up and I miss it!  I noticed the winner is new and only has one feedback comment and the auction ended over a week and a half ago.  The seller nor the buyer haven't left any feedback to each other.  I have feeling, ok maybe I'm hoping the buyer didn't pay or the sale fell through.

I was thinking of sending the seller a nice email letting them know I was interested in the item, but missed it and wanted to buy it off them if for some reason the sale didn't work out.

I know someone here has done this but I can't find the thread.  Has anyone else ever done this? And how do I word the email?

TIA!

I think it would be totally appropriate.  If the sale did fall through, I'm sure the person would be greatful you emailed them.  If it didn't fall through, no harm done right?

I don't really think it matters a whole lot how you word it.  Something like you were looking for this specific size/style and had missed their auction, and wanted to express your interest in the event the previous sale didn't work out.

Somebody just emailed me about an item I sold last week to see if the winner (who was new) had followed through on the deal. The buyer actually hasn't responded yet, so I was very happy to get email requesting the item. I don't see anything wrong with it personally and I've done it myself.

I did this once and it totally worked out for me. It can't hurt to ask! Just be super polite.

UPDATE!

As y'all suggested I emailed the seller a nice email letting them know I missed their auction but if the sale didn't work out w/the buyer, I would be interested in purchasing the shoes.  She replied right away & said that unfortunately she only had one pair but wished me luck finding a pair.

Fast Forward to yesterday, turns out the buyer changed her mind and returned the shoes and the seller thought of me!! So after a few emails, she listed a BIN for me and they're mine!!! YAY!!!

Thanks for those who responded!
