Yesterday I was shopping at Bath&Body Works in hopes to use a gift card that was given to me as a Christmas gift. There is a B&B Works store here in S.A. that sells other make-up brand products such as Nars, Vincent Longo, Awake, etc. Anyways there was an eyelash curler, that heats up before you use it its called: Talika. Has anybody heard or used this item?
Also is it worth paying $30? Or should I go ahead and order the Shu Umera eyelash curler? Or just by one at my local grocery or pharmacy store? Sorry for all the questions
i think everyone has had good results with the shu umera curler - i've been pretty curious about the heated ones myself, and considered buying one at target, but just couldn't justify the expense ... hmm
are you up for an experiment? i'd love to hear what you think about the heated one!
I tried using the sephora brand heated curler and it was such a waste of $10. Didn't curl anything!
If you want to use a heated curler try this trick... put your normal curler either under your blow dryer for a few seconds (it heats up fast) or in front of your car heater vent (if you put on your mascara in the car) and then curl lashes like normal. It will curl your lashes nicely. If you heat the curler too much though and apply it for too long to the lashes it will create a crease in your eyelashes for the day so just be careful. I love the way it looks and that I can still use a normal curler rather than those other kinds.
you know, i tried that and burned myself - so clumsy!
I did that too in the beginning (not like left a burn mark or anything). Usually I run it under the dryer for 5-10 sec tops then touch it a few times to cool and then use on eyes and i'm ok.
I've tried a self heating eyelash curler (not the same exact one you posted, but very similar) and didn't notice a whole lot of difference. Plus it runs on batteries which is kind of a pain in the ass.
Personally, I love the Shu Uemera one and I'd recommend that one above the heated kind.
BTW, if you have more almond-shaped eyes, you may want to try the Shiseido curler. I perfer it to the Shu because it handles better and the base is more curved. I heat it up just a bit and it works like a gem...and is $15...$3 cheaper than Shu.
I agree with the others, $30 is a little too much to spend on an eyelash curler. I also agree with Aurora that heating the curler with a blow dryer works for me.
Not to hijack this post, but why is the Shu curler so popular? Does it really work that well?

The Shu Uemura and Shiseido do a better job curling. I can just press down once at the root and my lashes curl perfectly.
Before trying these out, I had a Revlon one where I had to press really hard to get any kind of curl and I also had to apply pressure to multiple points of my eyelashes (at the root, in the middle, and at the tip) to get the shape I wanted. IMO these are worth the purchase price in the amount of time saved.

To add on to Lilykind's response, the base of the Shu is curved, unlike the drugstore version. The drugstore versions are straight across the bottom, which allows for less curl. The Shu's padding/curling thing (whatever it's called) is curved like a frown, so it helps curl the lashes better.
If you can tell from the pic, here's the Shu:
Here's the Revlon one that is straight:
Plus the pads on the drugstore versions are usually square while the pads on the Shu are round (little tubes vs. little rectangles).
