Did they have you walk and watch you? Did they wet your foot and have you step on brown paper? A really good fitting store will not only measure the length/width of your foot, but will watch you walk, do the brown paper thing and definitely check out your arch.
they watched me run and measured my foot. she didn't measure my arch which i thought there would be a bit more analyzation before just having me try shoes and see what worked.
i like the shoes, but i think i just need to rule out the new balance store and possibly the same running store, but a different location. maybe i just got a crappy SA?!

I definitely think you got a crappy SA. If you are not loving those shoes, I'd keep looking, but if you are happy with them, then its fine. Is their return policy good if you don't like them after running a few days?
I wear Mizunos and love them. But I have a narrow foot and I got an injury from running in cheap NB. When I went to replace my first pair (at a different running store), they told me that they generally don't fit people in Mizunos unless they've had an injury. I'm not sure why, but there you go.
I hate NB for me, but I think it has to do with my foot being narrow, which is why Mizunos work so well for me. So maybe you will have good luck w/ NB!
Even if you have the best SA, they can't tell how the shoes feel on you. So I would try running in them, and if you don't like how they feel, take them back.

thanks ladies. i went to the new balance store and tried a bunch of shoes on and i found one that i liked. they were super comfortable with lots of cushioning too. when i got home to compare them to my Mizunos, i realized that i liked the fit of the Mizunos better. they fit more like a glove, they were lighter, and fit my arch better. so i'm keeping the mizunos. the reason they may work for me is because they're men's which are wider, and they have a higher arch.
the new balance was a nice option because of the cushioning (they were SUPER cusioned) but overall the Mizunos fit better. the place i bought them said i could run inside on the treadmill and if they weren't 100% i can return them.
thanks for all the help. sorry for the long running shoes saga. hopefully it might help someone.
