Jewelry for Spring '06

What jewelry will you be wearing the most this year?? Wooden, beaded, charms, layering?? It would be interesting to see any new patterns emerging.

Wooden wooden and more wooden.  I don't know how in style it is this season but I still love it!

I'm wanting a wooden necklace, a white necklace, and a neautral bead necklace.  I've been playing around with my beads, but I really don't like these.  They seem too "craft corner".  It's probably the seed beads, I need to come up with a design that doesn't use them, and something more than just stringing them on a line.

I love my clay bauble necklace! It seems to go with just about everything and I wear it all the time.

I'm getting tired of beads.  I'll probably be wearing long chains with charms.

kewl, so how do you guys feel about more vintage jewelry?? After the kenneth jay lane bangle featured in lucky, I have a mini-crush on his stuff. It seems to add quirky statement to an otherwise plain outfit.

rocky, I always, always love vintage jewelry. And I like that bangle you posted.

I don't really have anything that I wear more than other things. I make jewelry so I can pretty much have something for almost any outfit, though I do occasionally buy pre-made jewelry. I like to have specific accessories that work for my closet.

That said, I am still very much feeling wood - I'm ready for spring and wood always feels light and summery to me, so I'll be wearing wood jewelry. Also I am jonesing for coral this year. I bought some great beads in February and just have to get time to sit down and see what I want to do with them.

I too love vintage jewelry and kenneth jay lane!  I don't think anyone would pick out his stuff for me, but I think it's so awesome.

I think I'm generally going for bigger pieces lately.  I just got a great big red coral beaded necklace on eBay and I really want a big turquoise cuff.  I'm also looking for a vintage locket and cameo necklace.

Rocky, that KJL bracelet is awesome.  I might have to try and find something similar!

I don't really have a specific "type" of jewelry, but I think I like either delicate thought-out simple pieces, or huge chunky pieces, like big stones or the marni necklaces.  The things I choose are either organic looking and made from strange materials or gold and silver, or really graphic and have that "pop" to them.  I usually make my own jewelry or buy it from smaller designers, at flea markets, etc- i'd rather have an edited selection than too much.  Just bought this ring in silver after remembering it from lucky 2 years ago:

i like this rose thorn necklace, even though its small:

i love these:

and huge stuff:

Definitely wood. And also other natural materials like coral, shell and mother of pearl. Lots of neutrals. Layering. Combinations of chunky and delicate.

tassels have been an undercurrent motif that I think we'll be seeing more of, also, carved ivory (bone or synthetic) beads are gaining in popularity.

I like faux ivory, "ethnic" styles and long strands of chunky spaced-out beads

I am so coveting the jewelry by "Femme Fatale". I bought a great ring at a local boutique in Austin, Tx and now I can't get enough of it. Check out the necklaces here. I really want the "N Love Birds" it so cute. if you check out the rings, I bought the "sacred heart" and have gotten tons of compliments. Very cute and easy to wear. I wear my ring (see pic) with my black skinny jeans, long belted tunic, black stilletos, and my hair pulled back in a slick ponytail, with a little height on the top of my head . Very 80's rocker...

Check out the great stuff! Femme Metale Jewelery

OooOOo I had to revive this thread after seeing Isabelle Azaïs collection. So beautiful, and affordable too I hear, yet no way to purchase in US *Sigh*
