I'm trying to decide where we should go this summer. We're taking 2 trips. A land trip and (hopefully) a sea trip (cruise). Where should we go for an outdoorsy type vacation in the western U.S.? I'm thinking Colorado, Utah, Idaho... something like that. California is out (grew up in SoCal) and I live in Phoenix, so Arizona is out too. We want to stay 5 nights or so with our two girls and another family. Preferably somewhere LOTS cooler than Phoenix. I'm thinking lake, or river...
I lived in Missoula, Montana for about 5 years and I have to say that summers there are awesome. There is so much to do in so many places around the state. Perfect weather...bright and sunny during the day and nice and cool in the evening. We always went to a little camp at Lake Mary Ronan (sp?) every summer and it was very nice and family oriented. It's been about 10 yrs since then, but I would still recommend the Big Sky state for a summer vacation...Good luck and Enjoy!
We decided! We're going to Alaska! My SIL lives in Anchorage, so we'll fly up there for a few days and then most likely take a train to Denali, do a Jeep tour, fish, hike, etc. I can't wait. I will have many questions for those of you who have been there! Thanks for the other suggestions!
