Nicoley's post got me thinking. I'm really not happy with my skin either and have been toying around with the idea of going to a dermatologist. Is this something that is normally covered under health insurance? If not, is it super expensive to go?
mine is covered under my insurance... my insurance actually covers alot, free visits, and then alot of the treatments i get, like laser light treatments etc... just require the derm to send in pics of it to be approved, and then they are paid for as well. I know the laser treatmetns are really really expensive otherwise.
But it probably depends on everyones individual insurance.

The visit is covered and meds are usually covered, but procedures that are more cosmetic are not covered. I was told by th derm that things like chemical peels and microderm abrasion would probably not be covered. She said they sometimes they can, but she has found that more often than not they aren't.
If it isn't covered office visits are not that expensive. It cost $90.00 for an office visit for me to go w/ out insurance (my parents self insure). Last spring my face started to break out a little, so I went to the derm and he prescribed retin a and it was around $200.00 for a prescription.
