My DHs friend and girlfriend just saw it over the weekend and they said it was horrible. They said it was the grossest movie they've ever seen, not just the gore, but it was really messed up in other ways too. The girlfriend almost threw up because it was that disturbing. I had wanted to see it, but after their review. I don't htink so.
this movie looked super scary to me and i wanted to see it - I asked me friend about it and she said it was the most effed up, disturbing thing she has seen:
I guess you all know the premise about the family on vacay and these creepy people who live in the hills attack them or whatever ...
well anyway, there's two sisters, one has a baby...
the youngest sister gets raped ... the older sister goes into the trailer and the guy who just raped her sister notices her blouse wet from lactating and so he rips off her shirt and essentially breastfeeds while holding a gun to her young baby (maybe 5 months old)
that was disturbing enough that i know i don't want to see anything like that - it sounds terrible!
OMG. I went, but it was against my better judgment. I don't have a problem with thrillers or scary movies but I can't stand gore or excessive violence. I knew that it was going to be bad but it bothered me way more than I expected.
It was so awful, jacked up and disturbing. Seriously the most demented thing I've ever seen in my life. I was in tears (like bawling and shaking) through the last 45 minutes of the movie.
Elaboration on Hermoine's spoiler:
"well anyway, there's two sisters, one has a baby...
the youngest sister gets raped ... the older sister goes into the trailer and the guy who just raped her sister notices her blouse wet from lactating and so he rips off her shirt and essentially breastfeeds while holding a gun to her young baby (maybe 5 months old)"
Ummm, yeah. All of this happened within about 10 minutes: everything Hermoine mentioned, the entire family watching their father/husband burn alive, a mother being shot and killed in front of her children, and a man biting the heads off of and eating the family's pet birds.
There's a lot of additional violence and gore but that whole scene was awful.
Yah, I guess you have to take the movie with a grain of salt. I am a horror fanatic though, I may be more de-sensitized or something. But its fiction and it was a thriller, disturbing in the way that SAW was, but even more so. I was expecting cheesy Dawn of the Dead stuff with bad acting. I thought the acting was decent for the genre.
