I go to Chick Fil A maybe once a month, but usually can't eat for the rest of the day b/c it fills me up so much. I try very hard to stay away from fast food, and when I do eat it, I feel yucky for the rest of the day.
I voted for once a month. I do occassionally go to get a burger and fries from Burger King, because I crave it after this amount of time, so I need to just go with it. I dont feel that I need to eliminate it from my diet, although I did eliminate it for about six months, four years ago ,when I first had to loose such a big amount of weight and I was trying to drastically change my eating habits. "Eating habits" are the operative words here- I was eating fast food 2-3 times a week, and eating it this much will make a person that has weight issues really heavy. Also, throw in pizza once a week, desserts after every meal- and you have a serious problem to deal with. My attitude for fast food has changed- it is an occasional treat- not a meal alternative.
We eat it as occasionally as we can manage. Sometimes during a long road trip, Micky D's is the only place for miles and if we're stopping to pee anyway, then why not?
FWIW though, I don't necessarily consider Subway to be fast food and we eat there mayb 6 times a year.

Something else that comes to mind when I think on this question. Have you ever noticed at the food courts at the mall, there will be like 8-10 different kinds of food places and the line at the Burger King, Mcds, is always longer than any where else? When you look around you at the people who sit next to you a majority of them are eating the fast food options. Is it habit? Is it cheaper? How often are these people eating like this? It is sad because I also do see alot more young children and teenagers that could be concidered obese. I was overweight at their age- but, not obese- that came in my twenties. What is going to happen to these children? Is fast food partly to blame. Thanks for the question Drew, it really got me thinking.
I have it occasionally, about once in a month or two. I never get a full-on meal or combo. I'll order a hamburger with light spread from In-N-Out or if I'm having KFC I'll try to take as much of the skin off. I don't really crave it so it's not too hard to try to resist. There is much yummier, healthier food out there.
i hardly ever eat it, but not just because i'm some healthy-eating saint. it's just not that convenient for me--the area that i live in (and especially the area that i work in) has a lot of nicer restaurants, but hardly any fast food--there's one carl's jr., which is not on my way to anywhere and difficult to get in and out of. so to go for "fast food" would basically mean a 20 minute drive somewhere, which kind of defeats the purpose. i'm not against fast food, and i LOVE in-n-out, but i basically only eat it if i'm on a road-trip.
I love fast food...so comforting. UGH. It's probably good that I only eat it once a month.
However, like bumblebee, I don't really live near that much fast food. I live in a neighborhood where there are TONS of good cheap casual dining options that are healthier than the outright fast food.
I did eat 2 In-N-Out double-double meals during my first week at work though since it's on the way home and I just get so mesmerized by the burger scent in the air. OMG, so good.
I didn't eat fast food for a period of about 4 years because I do have concerns about animal treatment in the meat industry. Then earlier this year, my husband an I ended up being on the road one in the middle of no where starving at 3am. We got Jack in the Box and it was so yummy. After that we kind of remembered how yummy fast food can be, so we've been once every couple of months since then.
I don't have a problem with it in terms of health tho. I know a few people who have really bad eating habits, but never eat fast food. I mean, a burger and fries is a burger and fries, whether you pay $3.50 or $35 for it.
How do you classify fast-food? Do you mean just places like McDonald's, Burger King, KFC - places w/fried, bad foods? Or do you mean places like Subway, Panera Bread, etc - those technically could be considered fast-food too. Anyhow, I didn't vote yet, because I wasn't sure.

You're so cute! You made me laugh... I mean the really bad places like Mickey D's, Burger King; your first group of places. Gosh, I hope Panera and Subway don't count; you can actually get healthy meats and whole wheat at those places; besides Panera uses really good, all-natural meats so they're definately not the list.
the Only Fast food places I eat at are jimmy johns, subway, panera, and el burrito tapitillo(fast foodish mexican by my house)...I tend to eat at these places 2-3 times per week

Ok phew!!! I was going to be really worried if you were counting Panera & Subway!
So I voted 6-11 times a year. I try to only eat McDonald's or places like that if I'm in a bind and can't find anything else or don't have the $$. I really don't even like it and most of that vote counts for McD's fries
For a long time I didn't eat at any of those places ever. I still won't ever eat at Burger King or Wendy's - they both make me sick. But, I do have a weakness for McD's fries every now and then!
I like your definition of fast food, Drew. If that's the case, I put down about once a month. It's probably less than that but every once in awhile I'll go a few days in a row and get a taco or something from Taco Bell.
I'm not a big fast food salad fan, I don't like chicken, and I don't eat cow, so there's not a lot of temptation for me to go to a fast food place. I'd much rather go to Jason's Deli and get a salad or Subway and get a sandwich if we're talking pure convenience and cheapness factors.
i rarely eat fast food...... but whenever my bf and i are at the mall (which is like one every two months) we sit down and have taco bell. then i have stomach pains that night... but i always go back. sometimes i crave white castle. if i lived in california, i would be at in n' out all the time.. if i lived in the midwest, i would be at culver's butter burger.
I don't really eat fast food. If I do it's because I have a jam-packed day (which usually means running errands or something where I can't just sit down for lunch) and I will get an Arby's roast beef sandwich. Or if I'm really hungry, two sandwiches but I don't eat the second bun. That's pretty much the only fast food I eat.

I voted 2-3 times a month. We probably do breakfast fast food more often than anything. We were doing at least twice a week, probably a breakfast & a dinner, thus the weight gain.

I almost never do- partly because I'm veg and fast food options are still pretty limited when it comes to that. Once in a very blue moon, I get a craving for those veggie burritos at Taco Bell, but that's only a couple times a year at most. Being in grad school, free pizza seems to appear from time to time, so, if that counts, I do have that more regularly. I'm glad subway doesn't count though- I love them!
