Yep, I saw it. I'd be interested to see what other P&P readers thought of it. I thought it wasn't as good as the BBC version but I liked some of the intensity Keira Knightly put into it, although I do think she was much too pretty to be Lizzie.
The boy bought me the movie on Tuesday because I went to see it in the theatres twice. Isn't he so sweet?
But all in all, I liked it a lot. Of course, P&P is my favorite book so I like almost anything that claims to draw inspiration from it. I'm lame like that.
I haven't seen the BBC version yet, but it's on my Netflix queue. I thought they made a good attempt to have Keira Knightley look normal and not totally put together/cleaned up, but obviously she's still very pretty.
I have it in my netflix queue but I haven't seen it yet. I just got the BBC version from netflix this week so I'm hoping to watch it this weekend. I also love that book. I read it at least once a year.
P&P is one of my favorite books, too, and I love the BBC series. That's why I wasn't all that enthusiastic about seeing the new movie at first. To my surprise, I really liked it a lot.
I didn't think the movie was quite as witty and funny as the BBC series but there was a warmth to it that really appealed to me. And who would've thought that someone else could be just as good as Mr. Darcy as Colin Firth was!
The one thing I didn't like was the fact that they changed Mr. Bingley's character quite a bit. He may be a bit gullible and depends too much on his friend's opinions but he is not supposed to be an idiot. I don't want Jane to marry an idiot!
And I still like Jennifer Ehle as Lizzy better than Keira Knightley. I just can't help it.
