I'm thinking of getting a Canon powershot. A lot of my friends have one and they all love it. Does anyone here have one? Pros/cons? Also, where did you buy it? Thanks!

I have a Powershot S30 that is ancient (from 2002) that I love.
Actually, I was just looking into powershots because we have to upgrade our cameras at work next year. I really like this one:
The Powershot A610. It's a 5 mp, with 4x optical zoom, and it's around $200. It has great customer reviews on Amazon.
Other journalism teachers recommended the A510 to me as well, but I prefer the higher megapixel. If you don't care about the MPs, the 510 is only around $150.
Also, I haven't ordered from them, but this teacher recommended http://www.butterflyphoto.com. Their prices seem to be lower than Amazon.

I just got a Canon Powershot SD450 Digital Elph. It's 5MP's - I love it. I ordered it from Amazon.com, because I found them to be at least $50 cheaper than other places and they offer different rebates, free shipping, etc.
If you have any questions about, I'd be happy to help!
I have an A95...not sure they still even make this model, but I think the A510 or A520 is comparable. I love my camera. It's very versatile and you can adjust shutter speed, ISO, white balance, blah blah blah so there's lots of room to "grow" (I just bought a book on digital photog and am planning to actually master the different controls). But if you want something simpler and smaller, and don't need so much control, I think the digital ELPHs are good. From what I can tell, the quality is pretty close and they are definitely more of a pocket camera than the full size powershots. A bit cheaper too.
The reviews at http://www.dcresource.com are really helpful and show you sample photos and stuff that you can compare with other cameras you're considering. (I hope that sentence made sense...I just polished off at least half a bottle of wine...I'm having trouble )
