dontdatehimgirl.com et al??

I was just reading an article in the NYTimes about a group of web sites where women basically post photos and descriptions of guys they've been involved with who are liars or cheats. The women are anonymous and the men are identified by name.

What do you guys think about this? I think it seems like one of those things that would be funny in theory, but problematic in real life--a guy could easily sue you for slander if you did something like that. Assuming he found out. I mean, in reality, I sort of doubt these things are going to actually prevent anyone from dating some loser who gets posted about--the article says dontdatehimgirl.com only has like 3,000 guys listed. What are the odds that a) you'll hear about the site and b) the guy you are involved, if he is actually a bastard, with will be on there?

Still, it was bound to happen, especially with online dating. They quote some guy who runs a magazine called Online Dater (who knew there was one?) who estimates that 30% of online profiles are actually married guys. When I was online dating I saw a bunch of profiles that actually admitted they were married, or taken--the profiles were obviously with no picture--if for some reason you were interested in banging a filthy married trashball, you could ask him for his photo--but just imagine all the ones who don't admit it! Like the guy who screwed over my friend, that I posted about in response to one of Dizzy's dating horror story threads.

That's just stupid and immature. Deal with your own shit, don't post it on the internet. Plus, believe it or not, some women are crazy. I would never believe something I heard in that context.

yeah, I forgot to say--some women actually are psycho and would lie about that shit. My best friend's boyfriend was accused of rape by his ex after he broke off their relationship. She took it all the way--he was arrested, tried, and of course acquitted because there was no evidence.

I think it's funny.  I agree that some girls are total psycho's and liars, but I have a guy in mind who I might have considered posting in my younger years.  I could have cared less if he found out or if he thought it meant I wasn't over him, he was such a jerk and deserved a little public humiliation.  But honestly the guys who really deserve it big time, like a psycho who burned my best friend's car after she broke up with him....I would actually be afraid to post his stuff because he might come after someone and he is pretty fearless.
