We totally got suckered into watching them last night. I've always just liked the figure skating, but the speed skating and snowboarding was fun to watch last night too.
I'm definitely loving Shawn White, the redheaded snowboarder. I think he's so great! He's definitely a "bro" but he seems really down to earth and really charismatic, especially for his age. Plus he grew up about 20 minutes from me in San Diego! Pretty cool!
I am! I love the Olympics. I'm so, so, so sad about Michelle Kwan though! I got all teary-eyed when they showed her interviews. And she turned down NBC's offer to be a commentator, unfortunately. I would have liked that, although it wouldn't have made up for her not being there. *sniffle*
I love that red-headed snowboarder. How cute is he? And the crying? So. Awesome.
I've been watching! I also was about to cry over Michelle Kwan. I love her to death and I wanted her to win the gold more than anything. I think it is the right decision though, if this is her last Olympics and she's not her best, it might be worse for her and everyone if she placed like 15th instead of just not competing. My new pick for gold is Sasha Cohen now because I really don't want another Hughes to win. =/

From what I heard on tv last night, they were saying that Emily Hughes is not her sister. They said she's okay, and will probably get in the top 10, but that she's not gold medal material.
By the way, every time they replay Sarah Hughes's performance at the 2002 Olympics I get all teary-eyed. I literally know nothing about figure skating, but her performance that night was just so incredible that I remember it 4 years later and get all emotional every time I see it.

Are you saying Emily and Sarah Hughes aren't related? I just read in the paper today that they are sisters Maybe I'm reading something wrong!
They're related - she even said so in the interview on the Today show this morning.
Sasha Cohen is just so dynamic and stylistic - if she can be consistent that medal is hers.
I was really upset that Apollo Ono screwed up in his last qualifying round - he was already in second place and therefore already in the medal race, and then he tried to pass into first and totally biffed it! Not the place for greed, my friend!

I agree about Michelle Kwan-I give her credit for making it again and again to try to get that gold. I too, would like to see Sasha Cohen win-she is an excellent skater.
I was also saddened about Michelle Kwan. She's really defined the sport - and what an Olympian should be, I think - so well-mannered and classy. I totally understand her decision and think it very typically gracious of her to allow someone healthier to compete, but I am saddened by not even getting to watch her compete again. My favorite, now that Kwan's out, is Cohen.
I watched speed skating 5000 meters and was thrilled that Chad Hedrick won his race. I think he's great and I hope he gets all five medals if he can hold up.
I watched the pairs short ice skating program and that Russian couple are just phenomenal. I can't imagine anyone coming in and taking that medal out of their hands. No one else is even in their league, IMO.
We're TiVo'ing it (DH is out of town until Thurs) but I am watching the TiVo'd stuff as I can. It's nice to be able to do my own "instant replay" with the TiVo. Love that!

I have such a crush on him.
Also, once you see Emily Hughes, you will KNOW she is Sarah's sister. They look just alike.

Oh, I'm sorry. To clarify, they are sisters, but the pros were comparing her to her sister saying "She's no Sarah Hughes." So, yes, they are related, but Emily is apparently not as good as Sarah. (One of those times when language just doesn't quite translate correctly when it's written down. )
