Since there are no such things as brown valances (are they that undesirable?), I made my own. So proud of my handiwork, it only took maybe 3 hours to cut and sew them all. And best of all, the fabric and thread only cost about $20, compare that to about $100 if I bought them already made! I'm so glad my living room is finally coming together. It still needs some more stuff, but it will find it's right time.
Oh my gosh it is beautfuil, I love the color comb. I love the view you have I just want to come and sit and look out of your windows. It looks very realxing.
Thanks everyone! I didn't use a pattern since I didn't see anything similar to this, so I just used a valence I had in the same style to use as a guide. It was sew easy! (sorry for the pun, but I had to use it!)
Wow! I'm impressed. They look fab. I love the chair. It's very stylish and pretty. What made you decide to go with the blue and brown color scheme? (My decorating problems are too many ideas, too little focus.)

That room put itself together! I swear it picks things out itself through me! I started with the sofa, chair, and ottoman. The legs on them are espresso brown, so I had to go with that color for the end table, sofa table, and coffee table/ottoman. The rug I saw at Lowe's and thought it would coordinate well. For the curtains, I didn't know what other color would work but brown. My accent I guess is white and crystal/glass.
Cortney, that room looks amazing. And I'm so impressed with your sewing talents! I can't sew (besides buttons) at all. DH says I sound like a sailor when the thread starts snarling - bad words come out of the room when that happens!
