My Birthday is coming up and I want to spend one day with my family and another day with a couple of my close firends. But I have no ideas on what to do!!
I am totally indulgent for my b'day, which happens to fall around Labor Day weekend, soooooo...I celebrate for a week!
This gives me time to hang out with my family, go out with my friends, have a end of the summer/b'day pool party and more importantly give me time to spoil myself!
I also celebrate my DH and daughter's b'days this way, so I am not totally selfish.
Last year I got the flu the day before, spent the night in an airport, and forgot it was my birthday the next morning until the security guard wished me happy birthday when she checked my passport. It then took me two plane rides and a three hour car ride to get home. My 19th really wasn't the best.
My birthday's in a couple weeks and I have class pretty much all day (including night class) so I'm going to the Olive Garden. Which would be tacky if I didn't live in an area devoid of any sort of culture and if I didn't LOVE the Olive Garden! And I'm bringing cupcakes to my night class.
Same here, my b-day's always a few days after Labor Day, I usually take a week and a half to two week vacation from work, celebrate w/family and friends, then 90% of the time, Joe and I will make that drive to Shreveport, LA for a few days the week after my b-day. It's all good. One year I hung out w/him and two other girlfriends at restaurant, for a FEW hrs., had THE best time.

Depends. DH usually takes me shopping on or around that day. And we girls will have a "ladies" night out - usu. to a fun restaurant (Atlanta has great places to eat) and some years we'll have a party / get-together with a lot of folks.
Last year (my birthday also is around Labor Day) the actual day was on a Saturday, and I spent it with friends at Dragon*Con, the largest Sci-fi convention in the U.S. I'm not a sci-fi fan, but one of our friends is, and the four of us had quite a good time drinking and checking out the costumes!

Last year we went to the zoo in Ft Worth - it was a ball. I think we'll make it a birthday tradition..... And I wore my zebra pants & took a picture with the zebras. I'm such a nerd. Then we went to eat at a restaurant I like there.
When is your bday?? How old? Are you going to be 18? ( i was thinking you are the same age as my little sis)

I don't have a birthday; I have a birthweek. It's in mid-August. I take the week off from work and I get to choose what we eat, where we go, what we watch on TV, etc. for the week... I'm a brat . My birthday is kept pretty low-key. My mom makes or orders out whatever I choose and then we have cake and open gifts. My boyfriend takes me out to a special dinner either the day before or after. This year will be different, though. I'm in school through the summer and I'll probably be assistant manager at my work by then, so I won't be able to take the whole week off. Plus, I'm turning 21 (!!!!) so I'll probably have different plans in mind than I have in previous years...
Going out to a fun restaurant with a bunch of friends is always fun!
I always take a whole week off work (I have a lot of vacation time) and relax a bit. I usually spend a day shopping and lots of time knitting and hiking with my dog. On my actual birthday, I like to have dinner at a nice restaurant w/ 10 or so friends.
usually dinner with my family. But last year my best friend and I went to Mexico, and that is becoming our new tradition. We're already starting to think about the trip for this year (my b-day's in July)
mine is usually on a summer holiday weekend, too, so i try to plan something fun over the weekend--usually a bar/restaurant night with my friends and then another night out with my parents/family. sometimes the two get combined. sometimes i go out of town on a little birthday trip (this year to NYC). i generally like to celebrate big, though, and this year i am turning 30, so the pressure is on. i am thinking i might have a big party. my parents always totally spoil me with big gifts, but i think this year i am going to save up to get myself a special gift. usually i don't do that.
I celebrate the whole month. I call it my birthday month! It started off as a birthday week but that was too short. I vacation. I shop. I eat cake. Go out to dinner. Hang out with friends. My mom makes dinner and cake. I basically do everything my little heart desires. I love August!!!! Birthday's rock! Looking at Stephanie's post, I think it might be a Leo thing.
ETA: Having different groups to hang out with and celebrate makes your birthday last that much longer. It's fabulous!
