As some of the others suggested, baby shampoo is a great alternative to a professional brush cleanser. This is what I recommend to my clients if they don't want to spend $16.50 on a brush cleanser.

I should start using Johnson's. Great idea, hadnt though of that.
I just use regular mild hand soap and warm water. Works like a charm! I pat them dry and just leave them on a wash cloth overnight so they are thoroughly dry before I store them again.

I do the same thing - just mild hand soap and warm water - always works for me!
I don't have time to wash and dry them so I use sephora wipes. You just brush the brush back and forth on the wipe until you don't see any make-up, and you're set! I think they are $9.00
